On the plus side, Costa Rica lost at home to Panama today, so no excuse to not get 3 points on Tuesday.

We lost the opening Hex match last time, too. Let's see how this team responds.

No, no. Panama beat Honduras in Honduras. Costa Rica beat Trinidad in Trinidad.

EDIT: We're not winning in CR on Tuesday. Never have, and we won't on Tuesday. Best we can hope for would be a draw, which would be unprecedented.

Oh my bad.

Yeah, we'll need to play like gods to get one point in Costa Rica.

Damn. We're gonna start with 0 points in 2 games, most likely. Couldn't afford to lose this game.

Jurgen's press conference is infuriating.

We'll still be alright. Just gotta finish top 4...... out of 6. The Hex is a very long process.

LOL.

Bradley just basically indirectly said the starting formation was stupid.

I'll post the video if FOX does.

When asked whether the formation was responsible for the loss, instead of saying no, he gave this long vague answer that basically said Mexico's spacing was great.

Their spacing was great because our formation execution was awful for the first 30 minutes. None of our guys could close down, since they didn't know who was behind them.

Peej must have predicted the US would win.

It's the only explanation for what happened tonight.

He wasn't responsible for the first goal?

He was better in the second half. I just always dread seeing him in the lineup.

Chandler? He was the guy closing down the shot but I don't think it was his fault.

It was the direct result of the formation/instructions. That ball ends up really far centrally to blame that on the RWB. If they knew what they were doing, Chandler should've probably been out on the LW and Omar should have been stepping up to that ball.

But that was the problem all around, no one knew where or when to step and spacing was a disaster.

We couldn't close them down, and when we tried we were a positional disaster.

Stu kept making a good point about the flanks being so wide open. It happened over and over where our wing backs were tucking inside and our center backs were being stretched wide by Mexico's wingers. That's honestly shocking. Playing with wingbacks, you have 5 defenders when the opposition gets the ball. There should be no room in the attacking 3rd. It's like Jurgen just woke up and decided "frick it" and rolled with it. Looks like it was never practiced before.

It would honestly not shock me if we spent little to no time on it. It's like he heard that Chandler was in good form and found a way to show horn him into his natural role.

Conversely the version of the 4-3-3 we had run the last few games looked very cohesive and comfortable for most of the players.
