I'm not. I'm saying that the few stats that he's good on (passes, assists, dribbles,runs) are bested by a number of other midfielders and that, for all of those runs and passes (and possession that Bayern had), he has a low number of assists and connected crosses. That does not mean he's a poor player, he's just not someone who should be up for the award for best player in the world.

Agree.
And Bhoy, it isn't just pure numbers. It's the impact the player has on the team. How the team plays with him on and off the field. Does he help out on defense, does he retain possession, does the team look different when he's in the lineup. Does he create opportunities for others, does he finish his. It can't be decided on by looking at numbers. In soccer, more so than any other sport, you need to watch games to vote on an award like this.

I don't think any player in Europe changed the way his team played more than Franck Ribéry did. You'll disagree but you probably watched 5 minutes of Bayern Munich.

Check the Barca-PSG ties last season. Or Juve/Italy with and without Pirlo. Look at Spurs without Bale.
Hell, Dortmund probably beats Bayern in the UCL Final with Goetze.

It is pretty obviously Ronaldo this year (said with extreme bias). Objectively, I still think Ronaldo was the logical choice.

Exactly. It could have been a Titi year, but I don´t think his year was as good as previous, and the phoenix like resurgence of ´I´ve seen a vision´ Zidane overshadowed him.
I think Ronaldinho had a good season as well.
I said fricking Cannavaro, because this guy is a system defender. The times he was left nude at RM are innumerous. Granted, playing CB for RM is a hellatious task, but he wasn´t any better than any whomever roaming around Spain.

Ronaldo was the better player. He is the better player. He had the better season. Ribery is amazing but he's not on Ronaldo's level. It'd be like Tony Parker winning MVP over Lebron if the Spurs had a better record and won the title
