Arsenal, Barca, Spain...etc. can run teams into the ground by passing around them. The ball moves faster than you can run.

I was just wondering if there were any women teams who were good enough to keep possession and frustrate guys trying to be physical with them. But on the whole, I see what you guys are saying that the guys would just be too much physically

even if there was a women's team who could pass like that (there isn't), all the men would have to do is what i said. send 7 back and 3 up and just play long ball

there is no way that women's team scores on the men's without a ton of luck, and i'd give the men better than even odds of scoring simply by being bigger/faster/stronger

St Aug would destroy UConn's womens team. Like 90-40.

it would be worse than that unless they let up

if the men's team has a male who is 6-3 or taller and has any sort of athletic ability, he will destroy any women's post player

No.

A WC women's team would have those boys questioning their manhood within the first 10 minutes.

Sure they would. It's also basketball. A game played in tight spaces, where size/raw athleticism plays a bigger role. Not to mention he's comparing high school to women's college basketball when the subject is high school to women's world class soccer.

If people really think Jesuit High in New Orleans can beat our women's world cup team then they haven't played men's at a high level and also played with top level women on the pitch during a pick up type game.

The girls would be so technically clean they'd just pass around the boys.

i think you're forgetting that we're discussing high school teams at this point. Not some national u-17s. Just a HS team.

I would say there are probably some really good HS teams that could keep a good game with the better women's WC teams, but most HS teams would prob get battered.

I think the real question is, would a womens team playing against Bornstein completely abuse him like everyone else does?

i'm talking about playing bunkering on D and then just kicking the shite out of the ball long and having the guys run under it

they won't be able to cross it in

and their passing will end outside the final 1/3

The best high school boys are playing in Academies and most likely not playing HS soccer. So even the best HS teams don't have the quality they use to ... Just to throw another wrinkle out there.

and I'm still talking about shitty HS sports.

Bunkering isn't as easy as just standing there. The field is big, and you still have to be really organized and disciplined to play against a team way more skilled than you are with that strategy.

And just saying 'long balls' doesn't equal goals. They'd have to be really fast, and even then somewhat skilled to be able to link their play and score.

I think you're kinda over simplifying here.

i wanted to mention that earlier, but the argument seemed to have gone to most hs teams, so it didn't seem necessary.

So what if they can't cross. Slow, they would just combine at the top of the box and make dynamic runs no high school team knows how to defend. By the way, they could also draw the bunker out by possessing in front of them, then carve the boys up.

the athletic difference is massive. i'm talking about a group of average joes with maybe 1-2 somewhat athletic guys on the team

i'd say the men will also average 3-4 inches taller in the field

is this a 5 a side field or something?

Even when team's bunker, there's still a lot of space. Pretty sure these teams could exploit it

I'll give you basketball because the physicality is SO much more important there, but I just don't think it would matter that much here if going up against players who are far your superiors in technical and positional play.

i'd let them do that

keep 2-3 guys waiting to snowbird and put 7-8 back

shorten the field. make it small. create a field where superior size and athleticism will be more apparent

i'd keep the back line at least 3-5 yards away from the goal and keep all the defenders as wide as the box. nobody goes outside of the box

The boy's would get pressured and technical ability would let them down. Clearing the ball and playing chase is stupid soccer and the girl's would cut it out with ease.

in a normal game? sure

and i'm not saying the % of success would be good

how? as long as the boys have a guy who can clear it past midfield, the girls would have to keep 4-5 players WAAY back at all times so that they didn't get outrun/boxed out of the long balls

that takes out their attack

smart backline will get 2 guys offside everytime. Also, anything over the top the GK will cut out at the WC level.
