Wouldn't travel be a major hinderance to the two confederations combining or am I way off on that?
Israel v. Iceland, etc. It would be annoying, but not unprecedented.
ETA: It would be hilarious to play Brasil in Chicago in the winter.

A merging of the 2 confederations would be good and bad. The bad would be that it would be harder for us to get to the World Cup. The good is that it would force us to be better and it would bring a lot more attention to the sport in our country. I guess the travel factor isn't that much of a big deal. Most of the top players are going to have to fly in from Europe anyway.

It would also be good for the MLS. Copa Libertardores >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> CONCACAF Champions League.

We need to unite as a board and select a country to stand behind.
I nominate Chile

In addition to the U.S., of course...
You've never picked a country that has little chance of making it in a tournament and rally support behind them? A "lovable losers" kind of thing?
I did it with South Africa at WC2010 and Ireland in Euro.
I nominate Bolivia, who has only three non-domestic league players on the roster and a chicken on their crest.

South Africa in WC2010 was fun. I have two SA jerseys now. (My pops has been to the country several times.)
When Tshabalala scored against Mexico to open the competition, I felt like a true South African.

I'm a bandwagon supporter
I only support Bolivia when they play in La Paz

I've revised my nomination, and align myself with the bolivians.

I'll go along with Bolivia.. unless Montero gets a callup to Columbia.
Then it's
Then it's

So in on this. The Bolivia pain train is picking up steam.
Combining with South America is a bad move IMO. Like what other people have said, qualification would be so much harder and I think that the World Cup would be worse off. Even more good teams would be left out which we see already.
