Take Mexico out and you replace them with the USA. then Japan with Egypt.

You have the 2009 Confed Cup group. We were so lucky to advance over Italy. Thank God we beat Egypt by 3 goals and Brazil beat Italy by 3 goals on the last set of games.

We went from the bottom to #2. Then knocked off Spain and almost won the final.

That one dude in the studio needs to take some English lessons if he wants to work on English speaking tv.

I swear those dudes in the booth for the last match started speaking Spanish when they would get excited.

Roberto Martinez? The Premier League manager, who probably doesn't care if you think he has a future in English broadcasting?

Gotcha, didn't see that goon. Ol Boberto was talking when I read the post, I was hoping you weren't talking about him. He does have a little bit of trouble, so I wasn't sure.

Giacherrini is a big part of the problem so far in Italy's attack. Making great runs but lacking the touch nearly every time he touches the ball.

Balotelli is going to get one by the end of the game. Is El-Shaarawy hurt? He needs to be paired with Balo

El-Shaarawy is on the bench but not quite 100% so he may not play much until maybe knockouts.

Diamante is probably the more likely option for Giaccherini.

I recall posting in another discussion here that Giaccherini is pretty much Italy's James Milner. He's a smart player that does a lot of things well like hustling, making smart runs and getting into great positions but lacks an elite touch and, hence, burns a ton of chances.

It's clear that Italy needs El Sharawaawy without Cassano to consistently finish off all the chances their midfield creates. For 2014, one of the talented youth like Insigne could really help out if they matured enough to be a difference maker off the bench.

Italy's a very good side but missing what's always been their hallmark, a #10 like Totti, Biaggio etc

All in all, Italy played decently against Mexico but were relaxed to the point of complacency.

Those v shaped gold collars are hideous. And that should have been a goal. Torres could have scored that one.
