A little late starting this, but the US won their first game against Jamaica 9-0. Next game is tonight at 9:06PM CST on FS2, TUDN, or VIX.
Lineup tonight, basically rotating the 11 from the last game:

Kohler with the barely touched goal. Good guys up 1-0.

Should have scored that. It was a great pass.

Niko and Kohler are the only 2 I'm really familiar with. Anyone else in the lineup I should be paying attention to?
ETA I love that we can here everything on the field. Heck of an F bomb there

Guys to watch at this tourney:
Pedro Soma: currently getting first team minutes for Spanish third tier side Cornella. Has had interest from several La Liga teams, including Barca (he didn’t want to go there because of a lack of first team playing opportunities). Will probably make a move after this tournament. Defensive midfielder and team leader. Has a great head on his shoulders. His parents are also wonderful people. Mom is Brazilian. He speaks English, Portuguese, and Spanish fluently.
Nimfa Berchimas: playing up 3 cycles. Looked like our best player at the U17 WC as a 15 year old. Hasn’t played as much for Charlotte’s MLS NextPro team this year as I thought he would but this might be due to minute management as he has spent a lot of time with the US youth teams. Originally from Burundi, emigrated here as a refugee. Quiet kid but does his talking with his play on the field. Very shifty, goal threat, a guy that “makes shite happen.” Possibly the second best prospect in our pool aside from Cavan Sullivan.
Julian Eyestone: FC Dallas product who turned down a first team contract to go to Duke for a year and then signed with Brentford in the PL where I think he starts for the U21 team. He’s 6’6. I think he’s generally seen as the better prospect on this team but Beaudry appears to be first choice.
Keyrol Figueroa: powerful 9, scored 7 goals at the last (U17) concacaf tourney. Plays for Liverpool U21s, has struggled with injuries over the past year. Dad is Maynor, Honduran national team legend. Also an FC Dallas product.
David Vasquez: crafty winger but doesn’t have the burst of pace to beat a man in a foot race. Has been a consistent performer in MLS NextPro and is pushing for first team minutes at Philly. Had an impressive showing in the first game. Also from the U17 squad from the World Cup last November. Quiet kid but very focused. Left LA for better opportunities in Philly and it has paid off.
Norris, Tabroune, Raines, Tsakiris, and Cobb are all getting first team minutes at their MLS clubs. Tsakiris actually played at the U20 WC last year. Will be interesting to see if these guys can eventually make the jump abroad. Hawkins signed a first team contract with Seattle but I don’t think he’s gotten any minutes with them yet.

That’s awesome, I had no idea he had LSU connections.

Final group game vs Costa Rica rescheduled to 7:30 tonight. Was supposed to be last night but a police officer was killed in a shooting outside the team hotel so they had to find a new hotel and CONCACAF ended up rescheduling.

Playing sloppy in the quarterfinal against Guatemala. Need to win to get to the U20 World Cup.

Hell of a goal by Ruben Ramos to put the US up 1-0

Help me understand. We have now qualified for the semifinals. How many teams move on to the U20 World Cup. Top three and the fourth plays in? Thanks

Top 4. So basically make the semis and you’re in the U20 World Cup.
Last cycle top two qualified for Olympics as well.
In other news, Canada lost to Panama today

Panama looks huge, but we’ve got a couple threats so far
