What a turnaround. Dropping the back line instead of playing so high has help a WHOLE lot. I think that Romeu is going to be a guaranteed starter until Essein is back. The midfield looks so much better with him in. We've only been scored on 1 time, by Manchester City, in league games that he's started. I really like Meireles too. I know that he's not going to set the world on fire, but he adds creativity to the midfield and is good all around. Sturridge has gotten used to playing with the first squad and obviously makes a tremendous difference. He can work on his finishing, but there are very few left backs in the PL that can keep up with him. We've been winning with Drogba and he's looked very good. Does anyone think that we try to keep him?
He's not great, but he's also not a full-back. He's better than Bosingwa. Bosingwa is a liability at right back.

Ivanovic just hasnt looked comfortable with JT in the middle. Idk if he's meant to be a winger or what, but he's had fooboos almost every game in the middle. Even though Luiz was suspended, You know it's an issue when ferreira is the lone sub in the back.

well today was an absolute disaster. is that the last game we see AVB in charge? personally i was hoping we finally had a coach for the long haul but the results lately have been really terrible.
I do however realize the team is in transition and really needs some creativity in midfield and better defenders. but i feel like hes so reluctant to change system there could be something done to make the current team better

I really like Torres' play today... He's playing with more emotion. Drogba needs to go

I don't want to see AVB go, and I don't expect him to, but the recent performances have been terrible. I thought that after we beat City we were around the corner. I think that we have to spend some money this transfer window, just to stay top 4. Even with Cahill, we need some more class and some more youth.

I think the problem is that Chelsea have changed their system. After the Arsenal game, Chelsea went back to the deeper line in defense, and played better defensively. They lost some potency in attack though. The last two Villa goals had everything to do with player mistakes, and not system mistakes.

I agree. If Luiz hadn't gone brain dead the first goal wouldn't have happened. Lampard gifted them the second. I don't blame AVB, but I wouldn't mind seeing more pressure against Villa at home

The reason i say that is because of the lack of scoring chances we've created lately while controlling the ball. For almost all of the game v. fulham and a good bit today we have been able to control the play but not able to find the final pass. i may be listening to the announcers too much but i feel like mata would be more effective in behind two strikers supplying the ball. hes also shown reluctance to press up in those games, maybe hes snake-bit from the way the arsenal game turned out but these games have been perfect for that type of pressure.
either way though we've had a lead in 3 of 4 and the equalizing goal has felt inevitable every time now. its just very frustrating to watch.

It's a rebuilding season for Chelsea, and one would hope that Roman would understand that. Again, it's partly his fault, as Chelsea's youth development has been very poor. Whereas other top teams can bleed in young players, Chelsea have to rely on established stars who are more expensive, and thus a higher risk if they don't pan out. At this point, the £74 million paid for Luiz and Torres has not guaranteed an equivalent return.

How to fix Chelsea:
1. Remove all Portuguese defenders
2. Get another young, technical midfielder to play with Mata and Romeu
3. Lock Luiz in a mental hospital
4. Buy a goal poacher
5. ???
6. Profit
