Sure but that's like saying Alabama playing Georgia State at home is a huge game because if they lose they won't go to the national championship.

This is a good analogy.

Copa games are meaningful. Unfortunately not as much as Euro games, but still, they are quite legit.

How is it a bad thing that we're taking a tournament seriously? I'm not sure why I should care who's taking the tournament seriously (which is everyone outside of Brazil). I just want the squad to win whatever they're competing for, and I think it'd be a huge deal if we made the final, much less won it.

This is a huge match.

This is the biggest competition we can compete in other than the WC. It is a chance for silverware. Some of you seem to think the WC is the only prize that matters. Jesus, tell that to Vidal, Sanchez and the dude who stuck his finger up Cavini's butt that their Copa America win last year does not mean anything.

This is the biggest game on American soil since Brazil 1994 and its not even close. Argentina in a cup semi on American soil, massive.

Wrong.

Confedrations Cup is the No. 2 trophy for us.

I still cry when I rewatch us choke a two-goal lead against Brazil.

It's not the only prize that matters, but it is #1 by a HUGE margin.

No one cares about Confed Cup. Just because we did well in it in 2009 does not make it important. Copa America is on par with Euro's.

Please go jump off a cliff.

A tournament that we haven't been in, but three times in the last 21-years is not bigger than the Confed Cup.

You realize our ultimate goal other than qualifying for the World Cup is just qualifying for the Confed Cup, right?

It has zero prestige in world football. The only thing it is good for is to give the WC host country a dry run one year out of the big event, seriously. It's about on par with Community shield in English club football.

In importance to those participating, yes. In quality, no (Europe). In intensity, no (América).

I don't follow the COPA that closely, being mainly a fan of European Soccer, but if the US were to win it, people in Europe would notice.

I remember arguing with someone on this board that the US had never played in the final of a major tournament, and that person replying that they were in the final of the Confed cup - that's something no one (in europe at least) really cares about.

If the US win or even make the final of the COPA, it's a pretty big deal. Would quite like to see it happen.

The reason making the Confed Cup is a bug deal to us is it is at least three more competitive matches against competition not named T&T, Haiti or Guatemala.

I didn't even know what the confederation cup was until 2009.
