Best U21 Prospects + a few U23

I'm curious which players on these squads get a Gold Cup call up. I have a bit different perception than some others about our prospects. ESPN did a Top 10 under 21 awhile back, figured I'd throw my 2 cents in.
1. Emerson Hyndman - Hyndman is the player that I am highest on. I know Zelalem gets the hype, but I think Hyndman is just as good, in a better situation. He is already pretty set on the first team at Fulham, and might be a great 10 for our system. With a billionaire owner, it is only a matter of time before they are back in the Prem. Very excited about this kid.
2. Zelalem - I see all the good that everyone is excited about, but I need to see him take that next step at the senior level. A lot of kids look good in the youth ranks and simply don't pan out because they relied too much on their old tricks. I also see a potential murder midfield with Zelalem behind Hyndman. He needs a loan this upcoming season, got to get game minutes to spur his development.
3. Cameron Carter-Vickers - I kind of wanted to put him number 1. Kid is lightyears ahead of his age group. Captain of tottenham U21 squad at 17. I just hope Tottenham brings him up or sends him out on loan. Would be a sweet pairing with John Brooks.
4. Rubio Rubin- Still needs some work on his game, but the kid has the tools. Hoping he can stay on a first team in Europe.
5. Jordan Morris- The newest starlet has been making waves, which is awesome. I only hope he makes the leap to a pro club, either in the MLS or abroad. He will get no better at Stanford.
6. Julian Green - I wasn't on his train to begin with, and I'm dangerously close to dismissing him. I think a move away from the Bundesliga would do him some real good.
7. Arriola - Another kid in a great situation. I like his chances down in Mexico.
8. Maki Tall - Despite breaking his toe, this kid is the real deal. Another one that we need to cap before he starts wondering.
9. Erik Palmer-Brown - Really hoping he can get some major minutes in KC this season. I think a Juve move would destroy his career. Hoping Besler can mentor him to a solid starter.
10. Andrija Novakovic - Should be at the U20 Cup, but Reading requested he be left home for rest. If he can break through to Reading's first squad, he has shown he has the body to compete with anyone.
Bonus: Im not very high on Steffen. I just don't see it.

I really, really like Hyndman so this isn't a slight to him in any way, but I think Zelalem and Rubin are easily number 1 and 2, for me at least. Zelalem's hype is warranted.

What's the deal with Boxi Yomba? Seems like a kid that's good enough for Atletico Madrid would be good enough to crack a U23 squad. What am I missing there
I know he played for the U.S. U20 squad at one point but his name rarely comes up as one of our hot prospects

I've watched two of those games, and from what I've seen I'd have to agree. Personally, I would have much rather seen him play on the u20 WC squad. I think Morris and Green are the only two players on that Toulon side that will ever play meaningful minutes for the full national team. They've been terrible overall.

I think this is the biggest misconception about soccer. People see a name like Atletico or Arsenal and get super excited, but the chances of making to a first squad there is so slim. Especially for Americans, they are better off going to a smaller club and getting the minutes and recognition first.

By the way, Mukwelle Akale is probably the best name not on this list. I would add him to the top 10, if not top 5. I'm not sure why he didn't get more consideration for the U20 WC squad.
If we are doing U-23 prospects, then Yedlin and Brooks should be on this list. I think this list should focus more on U21 prospects though.

My point being clubs like that aren't typically signing bums off the street. They obviously saw potential in him...just wondering why he is never brought up. I understand Yomba isn't the next Costa at Atletico..but the other young Americans playing in Europe are mentioned often around here
Christian Pulisic is also the real deal. Young, but as much potential as Zelalem from the footage I've seen. He knows how to finish

Morris and Green will get called in for the Gold Cup - with an outside shot at Hyndman getting called in.
Rubin may if Jozy's hamstring doesn't heal.

If we need a stepover clown, Freddy Adu is still (somewhat) active.
For that matter, so is Heath Pearce.
At least there's some sort of sample size on the others players mentioned.

Zelalem, Hyndman, Rubin, Arriola, Morris, and CCV all have a bright future IMO. They have the chance to be permanent fixtures in our senior squad in the future and can hold their spots for a long time. They are really promising prospects and hope they keep getting better and better.
I think CCV has a chance to get called up to the senior squad in the not too distant future IMO. He's a very good player with size and is extremely physical, despite being just 17 years old. He's also been playing up and is the captain for Tottenhams U21, at just 17. He's close to being ready and he plays a position of need for us. Could be a very very good player for us.
I've also been impressed with Bradford Jamieson IV in the U20 World Cup. Wasn't too familiar with him but really liked how he played vs NZ. Good size and was very active for us. All over the pitch and kept popping up and making plays for us. Seems to be very good at creating opportunities for himself and other plays and has the potential to be a very explosive player for us. He was an eye opener for me and was very impressed by him.
And I agree with most of the OPs post and info. Really gotta be excited about this new crop of youngsters that we have. Some very promising prospects. But it's so hard to predict a players growth in soccer. Some guys are tapped out physically and technique wise by the time they are 16 years old and never really get any better. Just gotta hope these guys keep working at it, improve, and stay patient. If that happens, we could have a very talented and complete team. We've got some really good youngsters all across the pitch at diff positions and they get to grow alongside each other and improve as a team. Which is awesome and kinda rare for us.

I wouldn't mind letting him dip his toe in. We have some shite qualifiers at the end of this year that would be perfect for that.
Julian Green isn't ready for the senior team either, and he went to the World Cup.
