all of those teams have underwhelmed or have exposed their flaws to an extent. add on to the fact that italy and france crashed out, add on south american domination, and you can begin how on target they are in that assesment.

Germany just dismantled the sexy pick to win the World Cup by the soccer writers.

I never doubted their ability to choke; just saying I don't think Germany has underperformed, especially considering how young they are.

They also lost a game that they should have won... And England was playing some of the most uninspired football in the tournament.

They were very dangerous in that game, most likely on the cusp of a goal before the stupid arse red card. The referee ruined what would have been a really good game.

ETA - your name reminds me of one of my favorite shirts

not underperformed. but the general idea that European form slips when the tournament is away from the home continent just confirms itself again this time around.

MOST DISAPPOINTING TEAM: Pick Anyone From Europe

I said that ESPN disagreed with him. I didn't even say what my opinion on the matter was.

If you write better/know more about the game than ESPN does, then perhaps you should reevaluate what you are doing with your life and move to Connecticut.

Yeah definitely, I still think it's a South American's tournament to lose. I could see Germany or Holland cockblocking them though.

Honestly, Germany looks better than everyone else in Europe right now. Argentina is the team that I'm supporting now that the US is out and I'm very, very nervous about that upcoming match. I think there is a 50% chance that Germany will win. Those teams look pretty even to me.

I expect Germany to play Argetina extremely well, perhaps even beat them. Argentina isn't very sound defensively.

I think Germany will win because Argentina starts Demichelis and Heinze. Muller is going to run Heinze ragged and Zorro has no chance if Ozil is running at him.

+1. Mexico had too many chances yesterday. Germany could hang 5 on Argentina if Argentina can't figure out how to stop counters.

say i pick any of the 4 teams i just mentions, then they are off base.

and that does not include portugal and slovakia who also advanced.

Yeah I think the German counter attack is going to be huge in this one (as it always is), especially with how Argentina plays and playing no real defensive minded mids outside. This will actually be a real test of Maradona's coaching ability with respect to X's and O's

germany has looked good, but they also lost a game.

just saying, there's a team that's 4-0-0 from europe and they haven't really been in danger of losing a game. winning is what matters.

By the way is he really German or immigrated from somewhere?

he is from turkey.

Why dont we start doing this? i mean yes we have some players from other countries but not good ones. The european leagues import young poor africans and you get teams like france that are full of immigrants. Or even germany where you have one bro playing for ghana and one playing for germnay.
