I read your post once, I don't need to read it again lol I even quoted some of it. I know what you're saying, but you can't honestly think that the quote about improved competition was followed up with something like "yeah here's our squad, you all should go out and improve, we won't be adding any other players ever so we are kind of just hoping you guys don't get any better than us." Before this season Bayern had not beaten Dortmund in 6 matches, Dortmund were DEFINITELY better. It's not like some huge preemptive strike on the club. They had their glory.

No doubt, it's not an over night process by any means and I definitely don't think it's the sole owner of "best league in the world"
Another issue, which actually helps with the competitiveness domestically, is that teams are wildly inconsistent. Hamburg were constantly worrying about relegation then by the end of the season they almost ended up with a Champions League spot.

Did I say "they shouldn't add any players ever"? No, that's exactly what I'm talking about with spouting nonsense.

IMO there's a big diffence between a top 5-6 side(Borussia) doing excellent talent evaluation and buying players from bottom tier sides(Freiburg, Mainz, etc) on the cheap and then having further excellent player development, versus the far and away richest and most well-known team in the whole league(Bayern) go and buy the two best players from the top 5-6 side once they've already been established as elite world class players.

It'd be like saying Arsenal is a big name buying club bc they bought Henry from Juventus and Van Persie from Ajax or Fabregas from Barca. Arsenal buying those players was very different from Barca buying Henry and Fabregas and ManU buying Van Persie.

Yea, my interest in Germany appeared and disappeared in a flash. It just isn't appealing to me. Bayern clinched the league in, what, April? With a +80 GD? No thanks..

true, but you're also ignoring all the guys who graduated from bayern's academy and the young guys they did buy like BvB did

I think the reason people get upset or annoyed is because Bayerns goal differential is higher then other teams total goals but they stil fell the need to buy more players when Mario Gomez doesnt even start.

Dortmund do not have a great academy history. In the 1997 Champions League Final. Only one starter Stefan Klos (GK) was homegrown. With 2 bench substitutes, Lars Ricken and Michael Zorc, being homegrown.

Dortmund's M.O. seems to be finding good talent on other German teams (including Munich) and getting it in order to improve their squad.

While Bayern has put out a massive amount of quality academy players, they also do a bit of Galacticos. Any time a big team robs a less fortunate club, fans cry foul. In the end, the money Dortmund will get for Gotze (and possibly Lewandowski) will likely help Dortmund further improve their squad and possibly invest in some youth. It also helps cap wages on clubs that can't afford to shell out huge monthly wages. I only mention this because if they threw a huge contract at Gotze, I'm talking ridiculous... to make him forget his Bavarian lineage, they would likely have to up to wages of other players (Reus, Grosskruetz, Subotic, Hummels) because those guys realize they are just as important as Gotze.

I don't really have a problem with clubs like Munich, Real, Barcelona et al... save for the fact that the nouveau riche drive up the market value of EVERYONE hurting smaller clubs on a budget.

Also, while Dortmund have raided other German clubs, they did so 4-5 years ago (subotic, hummels, grosskruetz, Sahin(loan), Bender) in order to pull them from the mid table anonymity they had slipped into.

As a fan of the traditional (Lahm, Schweinie) players, I do worry about this...Gomez is good enough to start for the national team, yet an early injury and Mandzo's phenomenal year leave him on the bench...will Lewa do the same to both of them?

Though they hold the trophy, some may argue they're not the best team in the world. The one thing I'll argue is that they are the DEEPEST team in the world. Their 80+ goal differential isn't because of Mandzo and Müller...it's because of guys like Pizarro and Shaquiri and a ton of garbage-time goals.

Bayern will continue to be as talented as any club on earth...how Pep uses those players will determine whether they're in Lisbon next year...

Injuries to Barca defenders (and lack of depth) helped Bayern get to the final this year...the key will be if players (who are part of that depth) can stay satisfied from the bench if someone else is out there...
