I think that would be a bad idea

They could put it at Airline/State Fair park between BR and Gonzales. Already own the land and nothing happens there except the State Fair, which I’ve never been to in 20 years or living here. Good draw from both parishes, a safe area, and lots of retail around to support it. That would require vision which is in short supply here. Remember that was the spot that many wanted to put the zoo if it were to move a few years ago.

I’ve thought for years New Orleans could potentially be a perfect division 2 market for the USL Championship. It’s a pretty big and very notable city that will never be a threat to jump to D1. It could be a pillar for the USL.

Clarify. Is D1=MLS???

The stadium should be on the lakefront in Kenner or by UNO, or in Lafreniere Park, or even a rebuilt Gormley. I just think the land in the areas of NOLA where some want to put a stadium would be unfeasible unless it was MLS, and there are some areas where you’d never want to put a stadium.

And one more thing… if a club is started in NOLA, does that mean one can’t be started in Mandeville?

For now, yes. MLS is the only D1 sanctioned league in the US.

As long as it does not compete with a varsity LSU sport, it's viable.

LSU baseball killed all chances for BR to get an affiliated minor league baseball team - which would have been a natural fit.

Kingfish did well until its league folded. People went to those games because no one else was playing hockey to compete for that dollar.

They would be better off expanding/improving Olympia since your main customers are going to be the Hispanics in Gardere and all the kids playing BRSC (who already are used to going to Burbank).

I think Memorial would be better, if you built a new stadium or heavily renovated the existing stadium that would be a good location.

Renovating Olympia would make the most sense based on location. Right on Perkins Rd where most of the “soccer fan” type of people live in Baton Rouge.
