Ashley Cole gave his Community Shield runners-up medal to a delighted seven-year-old Manchester City fan after Sunday's curtain-raiser at Villa Park.
The Chelsea left-back walked to the City section and handed over his shiny silver medal to Bailey McColgan, from Wythenshawe.
Bailey had just watched his team beat the Champions League and FA Cup winners Chelsea 3-2 in the traditional start-of-season game.
Wow, shows a different side of one of most hated EPL stars

In his un-defense.. who wants to keep a runner up trophy?

I meant who as a player wants to keep it.
Of course the kid likes it, it's a symbol of the other team's defeat.

Is the comm shield a friendly or real game?
Posted on 8/14/12 at 2:49 pm to The Mick
Both?
It counts as a friendly for red card suspension purposes though apparently..

They also seem to count goals scored towards a player's season total.

Haha, wouldn't expect anything less from "Class"hley. Like I said in the game thread I wonder how many of those end up in the locker room trash can? I guess making a kid happy is a better way to get rid of it.

That kind of thinking doesn't really enter my mind on the SB, as I generally count it above the mindless drivel of the rest of the internet.

Come on now, didn't you hear him after winning the CL? He came for the trophies man.
