He's played it for us on a number of occasions, including the earlier preseason games, and is probably better there than when he is filling in for Arshavin on the left flank.

The problem is, besides Theo and our fullbacks, every one of the guys we have want to roam centrally.

I don't think we could afford to play Eastmond and Frimpong together, and I don't think at this point in his career Eastmond is going to stop us from getting overrun by anybody. Hopefully it won't have to come to that...

I don't recall very many since he returned. In fact I don't think he played centrally at all last year. He might follow the classic winger route where he moves centrally when he gets older, but I think he's always been more effective on the wing, as it isolates him in one on one situations.

I'm just following the model that Wenger seems to like-the destroyer, passer, creator midfield. Frimpong=Song, breaks up play, Eastmond=Denilson, recycles possession and Nasri=Cesc, creates and looks for final ball.

Of course we don't want to pair Eastmond and Frimpong together, but if we have injuries to so much of our midfield I don't know what else we can do. I definitely wouldn't mind Wilshere to be placed in the midfield as the player to recycle possession.

Rumor I'm hearing:

Cesc to Barca. Pienarr from Everton to Arsenal. Davis from Rangers to Everton.

Any clue on the number? I like Pinnear, but he ain't Cesc.

Any chance Everton uses the money for Donovan?

Why would Arsenal take Pinnear? They have already gone on record they don't need another mid. He doesn't add anything that the other players in the squad already can...

I agree. But, adding Pinnear and the money from Cesc could open more possibilties for a CB or perhaps a keeper. I am more intigued with what Everton would use the money for.

Definitely wouldn't take Pienaar off Everton. Arteta would be a like for like replacement.

I love Arteta. Plays a much more Cesc-like roll.

Might have the best hair in the PL and is one of its most underrated players.

He is fantastic on set pieces as well. Depending on field position Arteta would be number two behind Van Persie for Arsenal.

so, Cesc will be in Mexico and RvP will be Ukraine for their countries respective friendlies instead of suiting up at anfield. siiigh.

eta: although this guy says otherwise -- RT @Babettex23 @DarrenArsenal1 RVP's not going to Ukraine. Bert van Marwijk called up a B-team. None of the WC players is going..

It's absolutely absurd that friendlies were scheduled then. Is Vela going to play in that friendly as well? Wenger needs to put his foot down and tell him no.

He is only underrated because of his injury. I find him to be one of those players that can certainly hold his own when healthy.

Like my boy Owen Hargreaves.

owen hargreaves is a useless canadian. he's a metaphor for their entire nation. have one moment of glory (gimmick goal against Arsenal; winter olympics) and then go back to being nursed (knee surgeon; the united states).

in other news, a sweet pic:
