So as a Chelsea fan I dont get what Emery was doing today. I feel like Pepe is way less impactful at the top. It reminds me of when Conte/Sarri would play Hazard at the 9 he is just way less effective there.

This was my problem, they both were essentially getting balls on the wing with no support in the middle. Yeah, pepe had that one chance. But it wasn't working it all.

He couldn't decide on n who to play cm so he picked them all.

And the only time we played that way was when we beat Chelsea.

I knew this was coming. You got a goal off a set piece then a pk.

I didn't know how Emery would set up, but come on. Your gk once again fricked up. We should have been up 1-0.

Not starting laca is criminal. Could have been down, should have been down, 2-0.

We will see each other again at the end of season. Guess you forget 2-2 and finishing 2nd.

THIS

Imagine telling your record signing as of two seasons ago who, came to a Europa club, that he’s benched for a game @Anfield. So dumb

TRUTH BOMB - Ceballos is NOT ready to be a nailed on starter in this club.

simple... defend the set piece better, and don't foul in the box... that's on YOUR team... MY team capitalized on your shitty set piece defending and fouling in the box...

again, that's on YOUR team... we didn't arrange your lineup...

That's great, but explain to me where I was wrong? We didn't play the 3 up front I thought, and your gk is worse than ours.

I was simply saying we aren't as far off as you would think.

Neither team had their #1 team. And I blamed Emery for getting it wrong.

I guess you forgot about the match at the Emirates last year. Yall were lucky to leave with a point. And yall beat us a hell of a lot worse last year at Anfield. Yea yall took it to us at Anfield which everyone expected. We are bedding in new players and have both of our quality fullbacks out. So be careful what you wish for.

He wants to dislplay trophies. We have won the league 4 times since they won it. And don't forget 89, winning it at Anfield.

The two up front wasn't the problem so much as the team was far too narrow. The 4-3-3 that we employed late in the game had far better spacing, and far more passing options available.

Liked what I saw out of Guendouzi, Pepe, and Willock. Xhaka is so damn slow on the ball. Lucas should start over him.

I guess Emery felt our best chance was to overload the midfield and limit the spacing of Firmino, Salah etc in the middle attacking third. Obviously this allowed their outside backs to have free reign to whip balls into the box (they didn’t score this way so I guess it wasn’t the worst idea). I agree that we only have one good defensive midfielder and that’s Torreira. He needs to play in every game like this over Xhaka.
On a positive note the game would have been much different had Auba or Pépé scored their great chances. Pepe is going to be very exciting to watch this year and I’m looking forward to Tierney getting into the squad. Overall not a good result but playing at Anfield is probably the toughest away game in the world right now. Need to get some points back next week.

Arsenal isn't going to compete with City or Pool this year. This year is all about finishing top 4 and building on what was a very good summer. While City and Pool are as good as the top 2 have ever been, this is the weakest Spurs, Man U, and Chelsea have collectively been in awhile. Not finishing top 4 should put emery on a very hot seat.

Getting points away at the Etihad and Anfield will not determine whether we get top 4. Beating teams like Burnley and Newcastle and getting a result at home to Tottenham will. You can almost just disregard the pool game in terms of what it means for arsenal's season overall.

Get top 4, have another good summer, let Pep be one year closer to leaving and the Pool team get another year older with that hard pressing style, and try and make a push for the title next year or the year after

Not finishing top 4 should leave Emery with no seat.

This result was to be expected, and you are foolish if you thought Arsenal would go to Anfield and get a win. Their team is superior and the Arsenal defense is still pretty shitty. David Luiz makes two mistakes that lead to two goals. If Pepe doesn't fluff his 1v1, I think it's a different game, but I believe Liverpool would still have scored with how they were playing. I expect losses to Liverpool and City, it's the other matches that I'm more interested in seeing the progress.

Beat Spurs on Sunday and it's the best start to the season in the past few years.

I rewatched the first half because of others saying it wasn't that bad.

And it wasn't, Emery's tactics technically worked and we still had the better chances.

It sucks, because our cbs delt with everything until the corner. Sokratis is holding vvd and vvd holds guendouzi and Matip jumps over them.

Yeah they had 20 something crosses, but they didn't trouble us.

Now I still think subs needed to come sooner because they did score and basically our midfield was dead after running so much.

Not sure if laca would have helped, but he could hold the ball up and be a better outlet, which we didn't have because Ceballos had to help defend all over the pitch.

Luiz basically loses this game. The foul results in Liverpool turning it up a notch and he can't make a play on Salah because of the card for the 3rd goal.

If we go with the diamond again against top6 away from home, I want Torreira at the base, not xhaka.

Eintracht Frankfurt, Standard Liège, Vitoria FC in Arsenal’s Europa group. Much better than traveling on a Thursday to deep Eastern Europe.

Really wish he was given a proper send off at the Emirates tomorrow. He has been a solid presence in the back for years.

He may still be in attendance. I was thinking he would start over Kola tomorrow, but that's no longer an option.

Also terrified at the prospect of Kola in a back four.

Gotta get three points tomorrow. Chelsea and United have problems. Top four is a must this year and we should take the chance to start staking a clam for third.
