One of the PL players is Essien.
He would be a good signing...for the 5 matches a season he plays in.
Cesc? No way.

I don't want Essien, Tiote, or any other Prem midfielder. Getting Cesc is a pipedream. He'll always be linked to us but he's never going to come back.
I'm more interested in getting rid of the deadwood than I am bringing someone else in. We've already brought in 3 internationals. We've lost two, but as a team we look better. There are very few reasonable purchases we can make now. I'm pretty sure Wenger believes that his best options exist on the team already, and he's probably right. There isn't a player in the world in mid-season form who could help us right now (who we could actually afford). We just have to struggle and gel as a team, like last year, and get more productivity from Diaby or Ramsey. It will be painful again, but this is the most logical outcome.

Bentdner and Chamakh are both gone. I know Cesc isn't gonna happen but its fun to dream.

pretty interested to see how our defense holds up from the likes of Suarez or any wingback action from Enrique and Johnson. I'm remaining skeptical that our defense is good-to-go since Sunderland and Stoke aren't exactly offensive powerhouses, but it will be an encouraging step if we keep those fellas quiet.

Enrique probably won't play. Downing looks set to start at LB.

I'm pretty damn interested in both. doesn't particularly matter to me what we do with our deadweight if we're leaving all that money in the bank unspent. I'm going to be pretty pissed if we don't strengthen our squad.
If it's just Yossi...

I'm hearing a lot about Loic Remy & Van Der Weil right now... I'd love both of those.

I'm skeptical that we will. I'm waiting to be pleasantly surprised. If we get a RB like Van Der Wiel, we have the option of moving Jenkinson to CB, which is where he probably projects. Essien gives us another option to Diaby and Ramsey in the double pivot, as well as provide an option at RB, but he's far from the player he once was. Tiote is far from the passer we require, and I'd rather spend that money on a player like Marvin Martin or Cabaye. A physical option off the bench would be useful, but I fear Tiote's price tag is too much for us to consider. I am more than willing to be wrong about this though.

To me, we have a decent squad right now, but probably no chance to win anything. And unlike previous years, we have a lot of money sitting in the back unspent. RvP £24mil, Song £15mil, Queensland Road Property sale £26m, among other things. And we've spent nowhere near that. Now we're saving all this money loaning out or selling dead weight, and we're not going to spend that either. We're dangerously thin at CF and not exactly deep at midfield. van der Wiel is going to PSG, so that won't happen. Seriously doubt we get Essien, but regardless, that isn't a good signing. More average midfield depth.
I had high hopes for this season because it looked like we were actually being positive. Instead, we got half measures. Once again, it'll be interesting to see if Wenger can pull 4th out of his arse. Not going to win any trophies with this squad.

That is the question. Will he go for it and buy a couple of quality players before the deadline? If we do that we could very well have enough to push on a win some silverware.

No. Everyone says we're in no negotiations to bring in players besides Essien, which apparently hasn't been too serious a discussion as of yet.

Way too quiet. We aren't signing anyone. Maybe bring in some squad player on loan but that will be about as good as it gets. Sucks. We are a player or two from being legitimate challengers for the league.

I can't even find any name we are linked to. This is very depressing.

Rumor is we are done for today and this window. Very, very disappointing. We get right to where we start to look like a team that can win trophies and Arsenal refuse to buy a couple of players that could put us over the top and make us contenders.
