He's certainly not as powerful as Rooney. You people forget how good Rooney is because he is a massive count. Jovetic is the classier, more technical player that Arsenal usually sign, and I'd be super happy with him.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he's a bad player at all... I'm just a huge Jovetic fan...

in Rooney's down year this year he's been significantly better than Jovetic.

Jovetic has huge upside, and is a great player. And realistically he is who we will probably target. But this talk of strikers on the same skill level as Rooney is silly.

Let's bring up some stats, shall we?

2009-10: 26 goals in 32 appearances
2010-11: 11 in 28
2011-12: 27 in 34
2012-13: 12 in 26

-----------------

2009-10: 11 in 29
2010-11: INJURED
2011-12: 14 in 27
2012-13: 12 in 30

I'll let you guys try to figure out who is who.

I like Jovetic. Think he's a bit soft and cracks in bigger matches, but he has the potential to be a great player at an elite club. And I know you guys hate Rooney, but Stevan Jovetic is nowhere near a better player than him now or at any time. If you pick Jovetic over Rooney because you hate Rooney, I completely understand.

Better prospect for the future? If we're talking three to five years down the road, then Jovetic.

Better value? Probably, Rooney will demand really high wages.

Better player? C'mon.

That's a fair point. Rooney did dive to win that penalty against us to break our unbeaten streak. But he's not coming here so this discussion is moot.

for sure. not happening.

i should add, IDGAF about what players have done while players for other teams. Rooney's a dumbass, but a player of his caliber is precisely what we need to challenge for trophies immediately. would be nice (kinda like it was with Santi) to get someone and not have to say, "I hope this guy turns out alright. has a lot of potential!"

frick... here we go...

I never once said Jovetic is better, but Rooney is not the world beater he once was..

I said I'd take him over Rooney for reasons already stated... And yes, £ has a lot to do with it, but it's not like I'm suggesting bringing in Connor Wickham...

You're implying I did... Which I didn't, on purpose... But the gap isn't that big.... And I say he will be a few years from now (May be wrong, we shall see)..

I'm just going off of what you posted. If you didn't mean that, it's fine. Just a misunderstanding.

God, Santi's footwork gives me a boner. I can't think of a better dribbler we've had in the Wenger era. Nasir could hold the ball really well, but he never takes players on in the way you would want him to. Santi's doesn't really take players on, but mitigates his size disadvantage with his dribbling ability. He creates space better than any of the other Spanish playmakers in the EPL, IMO.

I would take Rooney over Jovetic right now. He does worry me as a player though. If SAF struggled to keep the pounds off of him, then what hope is there for other managers? When he is in top form and shape he is an incredible player.

I like Jovetic a lot, but I'll take a proven PL player any day of the week. Especially one who has been scoring goals as long as Rooney has in the league.

Speaking from experience, it's much better to have a world class count on your squad then not.

I've learned to separate myself from it over the years. And it has made watching sports much more enjoyable. Particularly involving teams I am not a fan of.

I mean, between LSU football's drug and thug cartel, the Saints bountygate and LFC's racist cannibal, I think I am a fan of enough douche bags for all of us.

LSU's football drug and thug cartel

You missed the thread on the rant showing we had the least number of arrests in the entire SEC (Excluding Vandy, of course)!!!
