Besiktas has signed Pepe, Alvaro Negredo, Caner Erkin, and Gary Medel. Also got Jeremain Lens on loan.

Fenerbahce signed Mauricio Isla, Carlos Kameni, Roberto Soldado, and Mathieu Valbuena.

Galatasaray signed Fernando and Bafetimbi Gomis.

Possible long shots, but Arda Turan and Lucas Moura have been rumored to make moves to the Super Lig as well.

Since BeIn lost the GOATpionship rights to ESPN, they picked up the Turkish league and will show 1 match per week.

Turkish teams have always managed to sign high-profile players who are a few years past their peak. I assume the Istanbul clubs pay wages commensurate to that of a mid-table English team, and these players can still play in the Champions League.

The most underrated player of all time in the PL was Tugay.

Graeme Souness refused to start him away from home.

Even the smaller clubs are trying. Antalyaspor signed Jeremy Menez and went hard after Jose Sosa, who should have gone there.

ETA - they signed Djourou too

Will be interesting to see how Riyad Bajic does at Udinese. I think he's a star.

I never thought of Portugal as a retirement league. It was more the league which got the young South Americans.

Russia isn't a retirement league either though.

Driussi, Mammana, and Paredes just this window. Zenit bought Hulk and Witsel for Portugal. Promes at Spartak.

The problem is Russian players largely suck, and league rules require you to play 5 Russians.
