Wait, a side judge missed a United player being off? I'm shocked

Eh at the very least it doesn't look like the bad call will make a difference in either of your seasons, so I'm going to save my United bitching for next season

From WarSlam's SBI article today:
quote:

Robin van Persie appeared to be offside on a 77th-minute equalizer that gave the first-place Red Devils a point at Upton Park.

I think you mean WAS offside.

Sporting wins 1-0.

Juninho was sent off in extra time for being a bitch and kicking the ball straight at Jimmy Nielsen after a goal kick was given. LINK

3 points! Defense did a good job just holding on in the second half, and i think that was Sapong with the excellent hold up play in the late second half? I was stuck watching an awful internet stream. And yeah, Juninho went full retard on that kick.

Now I know what the C stands for!

That's the correct terminology there, it's just readers call writers out on it when it's a team they don't like...or mainly just when it's about a Man United goal.

Here, from the Associated Press report from the game:

quote:

Shinji Kagawa's initial shot hit both posts and Van Persie - who appeared to be in an offside position - put in the rebound for his first goal from open play since Feb. 10.

From the BBC report on Big Sam's post-match comments:

quote:

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce was furious with officials after seeing Robin van Persie controversially equalise in his side's 2-2 draw with Manchester United. The striker appeared to be offside for United's second and Allardyce said: "We had a fabulous win taken away from us."

Let's go to an AP piece on the Dortmund-Malaga second leg:

quote:

Even after that wasn't called, Felipe Malaga was heading into the semifinals until Dortmund defender Felipe Santana scored from what looked to be an offside position in stoppage time for the 3-2 win. Other Dortmund players who touched the ball in the build-up to the goal appeared also to be offside.

It's either that or "replays showed he was in an offside position."

I like this better. I think it's more catered to the American audience. That other stuff is loyalist red coat speak.
