Putting all your eggs in one basket for basically 90% of your domestic tv deal and 100% of your global rights is risky.
Can’t blame the league for taking the much needed money, also shows they are not interested in growing the game by making it less accessible. Apple TV doesn’t offer enough quality content to make it worth getting for a majority of the tv watching population
But there is a reason top leagues have multiple tv deals

I think that they're both hoping for growing subscriber account since it is around 25M right now. This is better since every game is available.

I’m pretty sure they have 25 million subscribers total
Now how many are into soccer is probably a small fraction of that.
ESPN is there for basically everyone with access to tv that isn’t over the air channels

The feed of the Chelsea game on espn is awful. Like they just grabbed an online streaming feed ironically, but one that’s terrible
