Interdasting.....
Would hate to see Lukaku leave the PL, but frankly, might be glad to see him away from any team fighting for top 4.
Lambert for 9 million is too much, imo. I would rather use the funds elsewhere, like Shaqiri.

ESPN and other sites say 4 plus extras
Sky is just saying 8 to 10, so 4 plus extras could be 8 to 10

I'm not as well versed in extras - would it be like some of the US sports where some of the compensation (or the round of the draft pick) is dependent upon the number or percentage of games he plays?

Usually the transfer fee goes up based on appearances and goals/assists
Sky now saying initial fee of 4, so it looks like it could go up.

I like the deal at the reported £4mm... Any extras mean we are getting our money's worth out of him...
His signing would mean we now have 3 out of the 4 players in the EPL last season who had double figures in both goals and assists... That's not bad for 3rd choice striker...
Also, like I've read on some other forums... He gives us a nice alternative for when we play teams that play with similar tactics to Chelsea did this past year...
Edit: also, SOTONs style of play is not that different from ours... There is more to his game than just a big target man..
nice first signing... Here is to a few more!

Im still skeptical a WC player is going to accept that role but who knows.
Still buying a 32 year old striker is odd esp for a club like Liverpool

Well, we should know something this weekend... By all accounts the deal is done, but you never know...
I guess the lure to play CL and for your boyhood club is too much to pass up... I'm guessing a pay raise too...
Not too dissimilar to when United brought in Sheringham at 31

It may also be buying time if they don't think Borini is quite ready yet, but a year or two away.
Or a "cheaper" way to shore up the FWD position (Sturidge does have some injury histories) while we spend most of the bucks in midfield and the back? Either way, its clearly a short term solution.

But Teddy was way better than Lambert
Lots of Ricky's production was in the lower leagues. Dude put on a lot of miles playing in League One and the Championship. At that level its a straight up grind with the amount of games and how physical it is.

I def agree on the Sturridge situation... IMO, Lambert just offers something totally different to Borini... In fact, I can see those two complimenting each other well, in cup games...

I'm comparing ages, Teddy was 31... And to your point, both internationals...
And Rickie is still VERY productive...
And again, he won't be playing every game for us... Far from it.
He is going to be a squad player... For the money it's not bad business... Geez...

comparing the two is absurd

Ummm, are they not of a similar age and both England internationals?
And note, I said "not dissimilar" not exactly the same...
I get it, it's LFC... any attempt to discredit a signing (potential), you'll take it...
Talking to you is like talking to a second grader (not banter)... And before you add "you mad" followed by a laughing icon... yes, I am... at myself, for continuing to reply to you and your moronic responses...

Yes but Ricky has 4 Caps. Teddy had way more and a much better scoring record.

its a huge difference in terms of quality of player that clubs like United and Liverpool try to bring in esp at that age.

Not really
quote:Wow man I guess criticizing LFC is off limits. How is anything i've said moronic?

Dude, we are signing a £4mm backup... If RL was our #1 choice striker going into next season, I would agree...
You seem to be changing arguments... At first it was, why would England International Rickie Lambert choose to go to LFC at this point in his career???
Now its, LFC are targeting shitty old Rickie Lambert, who by the way, isn't fit to lace Teddy's boots...
It's just painful man...

B/c its odd a WC player would be a back up. I didn't change any argument.

You brought up Teddy not me. I never said he sucked but compared to Teddy its not even close.

Yes you are if you can't take simple criticism of LFC. Typical thin skinned Scouser.

keep proving my point..
No, I can take it... But at least Randy takes a stance, digs in and sticks to his guns... and defends it with valid arguments, even if I don't agree.

Does this mean we're friends now?

You have no point, and you result to personal attacks.
You are getting all upset over really nothing. I never said the guy sucked. When you brought up Teddy I said comparing the two is absurd nothing stupid about that.

Please explain how my argument is not valid. When it comes to comparing the two players.
