A number of things go into driving the price up of English players. Some are justified, some aren't.

Homegrown rules, team morale, language, familiarity with the English game, relationship with the fans, etc.

I'm not sure why we keep looking at CB's, we have a lot of good ones.

Gustavo is one of my favorite players. He improved so much last summer and had to deal with injuries/squad competition and didn't get all that much playing time this season, kind of feel bad for him. He seems to really be happy at Bayern though, so I don't think he'll leave. If I remember correctly Bayern paid like 15mm to get him so if he were to leave I don't think he'd be cheap at all.

yeah i can't actually see it happening at all. just seems like it would fit our need at the moment and he seems to be clearly out of your top XI now.

so, what happens with Jovetic? Juve have signed Llorente and Tevez. We're signing Higuain and apparently going after Rooney too (though, unlikely we get him). can he stay in Fiorentina after what he's said? will someone else swoop in? hear anything wm?

He's definitely out of the favored XI, but he'll always have a job to do. I would be disappointed if he left, but happy for him because he is more than good enough to start at another UCL club.

He could stay at Fiorentina even if it's not the most likely outcome. Unlike, say Cavani, many never considered him all that certain to move even when it seemed he was Juve and Arsenal's main target. His comments could be glossed over since those are surprisingly normal these days.

I do still think Fiorentina moves him though and use the money to bring in a true #9 target forward. They're really stacked in the attack even without Jovetic and word is that they have already agreed in principal with Mario Gomez and Bayern and would pull the trigger as soon as a Jovetic deal is made.

Juventus is still the most likely possibility. After signing Tevez, it will probably mean them moving Vucinic.

Ancellotti was very interested in him when at PSG so RM wouldn't be a total shock.

I think Roma may play some role if things fall through for Fiorentina moving him elsewhere. We were interested in him since last summer when we supposedly balked at sending them Osvaldo + cash.

However, if it actually came down to Roma having a shot, I imagine AC Milan or Inter would suddenly become interested and pull something off. That's how they roll.

I could see Liverpool playing a part if Suarez actually does move (which is doubtful in itself). LFC would have the cash and would have a world class player to replace. There has been interest in the past as well.

How good is Jovetic in real life? He rules in FIFA.

He's a good player, but he isn't a pure #9. He likes to drop deep and support the midfield and link-up play. His conversion rate is decent, but he's technically proficient, a good passer and pretty dynamic. He's superb in chance creation for the role that he plays, but he would occupy similar space as Mata and Hazard.

He has a bright future, but I don't think he will ever be a consistent 20-goal player in the Prem. Not every club need that though, as Chelsea has adequately demonstrated.

I think he would do great in a 4-4-2.

I still see juve going after jovetic, after they unload 2 of the 3 Matri Vucinic or Quagliarella
The llorente and tevez deals didn't break the bank

I didn't think about Liverpool but he could certainly lessen the blow of selling Suarez. Roma fans love the Jovetic idea --even it's probably not realistic -- insofar as he could fill the #10 role when Totti retires.

It's going to interesting to see as so many clubs have a prominent forward that may be leaving.

Suarez
Osvaldo
Cavani
Real Madrid and Juventus
Milan possibly selling El Sharaawy rumors
etc

I've heard nothing of it, rumor wise, but I know Baldini who just went to Tottenham likes Jovetic a lot as well.
