Hmmm I hope goal diff doesn't come into play, with everyone beating Marseille and drawing each other once or twice.

Congrats to all English sides for winning their opening Champions League ga--oh.... *awkwardly regards Chelsea*

ESPN a bit premature:

Marco Streller scored nine minutes from time to give Basel a shock 2-1 win at Chelsea, while Arsenal won 2-0 away at Marseille and a Lionel Messi hat-trick saw Barca beat Ajax 4-0

I'm super happy with the 3 points. Dortmund will be super difficult, and I think we can take Napoli at home.
Straight Red for the Keeper, he's gone next match right?

I'm hoping Marseille take a game or two from Dortmund and Napoli. The Velodrome is not an easy place to play. We can win this group, but we have to win all our games at home.

if we win all our home games, this win has us qualified. napoli beating dortmund makes things really interesting. weidenfeller being out is very helpful.

Yep.
I think we can beat Napoli at home, though they will be a tough test. Rafa's teams always play well in Europe, but we've done well against him for the most part.

Gotta love Aaron Ramsey. Scores the goal to give us the cushion then concedes a pk in stoppage time to help us on our quest to be the first team in history to average a conceded pk per game. Sort of like Deuce missing the pk against Mexico to keep 2-0 intact.
Real talk though, that call was terrible Ramsey got all ball

Their back up keeper can ball decently, but obviously not Roman-esque. Luckily for you guys I could totally see this ending like it did 2 years ago for Dortmund. I'd love for them to get knocked out in the group stage, but that primes them for a Bundesliga run. That's that shite I don't like. Schalke is always a semi dumpster fire, but goddamn it if they aren't dangerous at their best. KPB is a nice addition, I'm starting to join the crowd that thinks Draxler might be better on the left than the middle. He's pretty fricking phenomenal.

That's a massive if. I think we can definitely beat Marseille again at home. Napoli and Dortmund are up in the air. We just have to hope that Marseille draw those teams so we can have a comfortable advantage.
We also need to get some players back from injury. Once we get Arteta back, it will allow us to move some players around.

WTF?! I can't believe Samuel Eto'o isn't banging in goals! He was awesome like 7 years ago!
Seriously, we suck and have no one to blame but our terrible transfer window. Buy 50 20 year old attacking mids and nobody who can score a goal. Awesome.
Oh and two time club player of the season, take a sit over there on the bench.

Yea, somebody guarding the damn post on a corner would be nice as well.
Maybe we are just positioning ourselves to defend our prestigious Europa crown.

Does that have to do with squad depth?
We beat Dortmund pretty handily two years ago both times, but we were set up differently.

It's surreal they decided to loan out Lukaku...again. Build that team around a player of his talents and good things will come.
Torres and Eto'o would have been amazing 5 years ago.

Nah, this is definitely the deepest Dortmund has ever been. They have real quality almost 2 deep at every position. I meant more along the lines of Murphy's Law or whatever the frick it's called. Klopp was a Euro n00b back then too, he proved to be much more adept last season. It's more just wishful thinking that they'll shite the bed again. I think they'll be alright, but their group is rough so many more frick ups and they'll find themselves competing for Europa league.

De Jong post-match saying Milan got lucky and that Celtic were much stronger than they had anticipated and that Celtic dictated the match.

They will be a test for sure. I can see Arsenal beating Napoli, but it's hard to imagine working Dortmund as easily as we did 2 years ago.

they loaned their best striker out instead of their 4th best because Jose was afraid of özil. pretty sweet deal.
Posted on 9/18/13 at 4:04 pm to crazy4lsu
For sure, and it was on the road against a good team, so I'm not exactly sure they planned on winning this one in a convincing fashion. I'm sure they fancied a draw. I didn't get a chance to watch, but I heard they settled down and played quite decently in the second half.

3 road points for the Gunners!
Also, someone please GIF Klopp's meltdown.
