Nice try TD, it should be "teams beaten who have a chance to win their BCS conference this year...
As expected, you missed the point. Oregon is #1 RIGHT NOW but for the timing of scheduled game with LSU. They were ranked that way for a reason. Likewise, Penn St. was unranked at the beginning for a reason.
It just points to the hubris of Bama fans, that just because Bama is undefeated, there is no way to comprehend that LSU has faced a team as hard to beat as them. LSU has, and they've won. Alabama simply hasn't.
eta:
Oregon was picked to WIN the Pac 10. They are undefeated in that category and humiliating every team they play.
Penn St. was picked to finish 5th at BEST in the Big 10. The last three teams on their schedule are 3 of the 4 teams that were picked to finish ahead of them in that category (Michigan St. is the 4th of that group, and Penn St. does not play them) and those 4, as a group, are UNDEFEATED in that category. In other words, Penn St. is on track to finish exactly where they were expected to, just as Oregon is.

Rushing stats last 3 years in LSU-BAMA games.
LSU
2008 - 46/201
2009 - 29/95
2010 - 45/225
Total - 120/521 (4.34 yds/carry)
Alabama
2008 - 37/138
2009 - 38/176
2010 - 31/102
Total - 106/416 (3.92 yds/carry)
and bama does not have an experienced QB like they had with sara jessica parker wilson or greggie fagelroy this year. LSU has two experienced QB's who have played in hostile environments throughout their career at LSU

umm, Lee was not the starter the last TWO years. have you watched any football whatsoever other than bama?

ahh so lee 8-0 this year means nothing though right? But it does for AJ? YOU JUST LOST ALL CREDIBILITY WITH THAT ASININE ARGUMENT.
Yep AJ has definitely played in more big games than Lee and JJ.

No doubt AJ will play just like fagelroy in his first big game this year, right?

Both teams have dominated their competition for the most part. The stats will be misleading because neither team has had to play their best to win or keep their foot on the gas.
It should be a great game.
My prediction:
LSU - 24
Bama - 13

Your point in hard to follow:
* - Stanford 6-0 8-0
* - Oregon 5-0 7-1
* - Washington 4-1 6-2
Oregon State 2-3 2-6
California 1-4 4-4
Washington State 1-4 3-5
SOUTH CONF OVERALL
* - Arizona State 4-1 6-2
x - USC 3-2 6-2
UCLA 3-2 4-4
Utah 1-4 4-4
Arizona 1-5 2-6
x - Colorado 0-5 1-8
* - Michigan 3-1 7-1
* - Nebraska 3-1 7-1
* - Michigan State 3-1 6-2
Iowa 2-2 5-3
Minnesota 1-3 2-6
Northwestern 1-4 3-5
Big Ten - Leaders CONF OVERALL
* - Penn State 5-0 8-1
* - Wisconsin 2-2 6-2
Ohio State 2-2 5-3
Purdue 2-2 4-4
* - Illinois 2-3 6-3
x - Indiana 0-5 1-8
Stanford has a better record than Oregon, but is tied for 1st with them in the same division.
Penn St. is leading their division.
Big Ten > Pac 12....what was your point in your rant?

LSU's defensive stats are very impressive considering the quality offenses they have played against.

This game will prove that Stats don't mean nothing......LSU 9- Bama 6

I believe that the total offense stats are misleading because of LSU's style of taking what they need on offense (not running it up in the 4th) and maintaining ball control as well as usually good field position thanks to defense.
In the nicest possible way, you're dumbass if you think Alabama has been running it up in the 4th quarter. Just look at the last game. They intercept a ball and start in Tennessee territory with 9 min. to go in the game and somehow manage to run 7+ min. off the clock and turn the ball over on downs on the 1 yard line. Tennessee then goes 4 and out and Bama takes over with 50 sec. left. Yep, sounds like running up the score to me.

So in your mind, Oregon is just as good as Bama

Statistics are nice for discussion purposes, and normalizing them gives a different perspective for the discussion. One of my favorite techniques is to look at how the same teams performed against the opponents in prior years compared to their average opponent. If the trend is that one team does consistently better than the other in those comparisons it may be indicative of a match up advantage for one team. For instance LSU outperformed Alabama statistically in 2010 by a large margin. And LSU also outperformed the average Alabama opponent by a substantial margin in 2010 while Alabama's performance against LSU was close to the season's average for LSU opponents.
The only problem is that the variances were reversed in 2009, and Alabama dominated statistically, so one can't claim there is a trend. The one constant however, is that both teams' defenses have held the other below their offensive scoring averages, and both have scored more than the opponent's scoring defensive average. As such, I would expect a low scoring game in 2011 as that has been one trend that has remained consistent. Predictions of 14 point margins of victory, and greater, are unlikely to be accurate.

Lee's nfl qb rating for the season 113
AJ's nfl qb rating for the season 111
Pretty darn good, Im not so sure that either QB will lose this game all by themselves.
And before you even say it, I know this is cfb, but the ncaa passing efficiency rating is retarded. The nfl rating is a much better evaluation.

LSU does better than opponents averages compared to Bama...
Posted on 10/31/11 at 8:56 pm to SouthOfSouth
LSU and Bama against common opponents:
LSU vs. Tennessee - 383 to 239 score 38-7
LSU vs. Florida - 453 - 213 score, 41-11
Alabama vs. Florida - 366 to 222; score 38-10
Alabama vs. Tennessee - 437 to 155; score 37-6
Average LSU 39.5-9.0 418 total offense, 226 total defense
Average Alabama 37.5-8.0 401.5 total offense, 188.5 total defense
So, Alabama has the edge in giving up 37.5 yards and 1.0 points per game less than LSU is.
LSU has the edge in offense averaging 16.5 yards per game and 2.0 points per game more.
Statistically, this is a dead heat.

You are resorting to statistics to calm yourself? I've never seen an Alabama group so insecurely nervous. This is funny. Used to be they were confident enough to just smile and take what was theirs. Funny how the "tide" has turned. I love it.

I think this will be a great game and will probably go down to the wire. However, this comment has nothing to do with this game. LSU has faced a great offense in Oregon but just about every team LSU has faced, ran more of a spread and that worked in LSUs favor. LSU still hasn't proved that they can stop a power running game like Bama's. Mingo and Montgomery are great DE's but TR has the speed and power to match LSU's front 7.
I think LSU will stack the box with 9 most of the game and force AJ to beat them. If Maze, Hanks, and Smelley can get open, we'll be in good shape IMO. I'm not sold on LSU being able to stop TR with front 7 so it'll be up to y'alls talented corners.
