We purchased a home this past Summer with a pool, but badly in need of a resurfacing. The resurfacing contractor I preferred was really pushing the Pebbletec (it's abt $2500 more expensive). I've read it will last quite a bit longer and not lose it's color vs Plaster, but the surface is considerably rougher. What have folks experience been with PebbleTec?

Any of y’all have this? My wife is attempting to get a home renovation done and we have a long fur down stretching the length of our home she wants to get rid of. Any problems w/ duct in the crawl space on pier and beam home?

How secure are French Doors?

Posted by bgbam07 on 6/12/23 at 4:39 pm
My wife wants to replace our front door with French doors. At our previous home we had a set of French doors in the back that I guarantee could be kicked in. Are all French doors this way?
My entire family came down with the flu yesterday. None of us feel like cooking. What are some restaurants that are open that we can get to go?

Home Remodels over the next few years

With interest rates sky rocketing and a possible mini recession ahead…do you see the costs to renovate a home coming down? My wife and I are saving with hopes of doing this in the next several years.
Heard there was a special event at Tiger Stadium tomorrow?

Snows Skiing in the Southeast?

Posted by bgbam07 on 10/14/21 at 4:52 pm
I know out West or the far Northeast is far better, but who has gone skiing in the Southeast? TN, NC, WV, VA, etc. My kids are young and not sure if they would be into it and would prefer doing a more low key ski trip before going big at one of those name brand resorts out West. If you did it...where and how was it? Much more budget friendly?

Sorry if this has already been posted...been busy with cleanup around the house post storm. Who do we think is the potential buyer? There was a pretty long thread when Convent was up for sale and then ultimately shuttered for the time being...

Local to BR spot for Railroad Ties

Looking to get some rails road ties for little to no cost in Baton Rouge. Just FYI not planning for garden or bed use, but for border of a gravel parking space. Any recs on where to get us appreciated.
What the title says...looked on bayoushooter, gunbroker, etc.

I’m searching for a ‘Beretta A400 Lite Synthetic (or mossy oak) 20 gauge, 28’ barrel’. The Beretta website still lists it, but read other message boards it has been discounted.

Is the next best thing just get lucky at a pawn shop or gun store? All online retailers it says out of stock.

Building under a power line?

Posted by bgbam07 on 2/19/21 at 8:27 am
My family lives in an older, original part of Baton Rouge. Our home is the second from the corner. The corner lot is a bit of an oddball (small and weird layout). There have been renters there for 20+ years and we have had conversations with the owners abt possibly purchasing the lot one day to extend our current home. The caveat here is there is an overhead power line in between our lot and their lot (I also think it's technically a city servitude as well since it's a power line). Could you build under if that is the case? Would Entergy move the line underground? Any idea who the person to speak with this at Entergy would be? Just forget it in general?
Basically what the subject says...driving distance of BR and no motorized boat. I have an older kayak or could purchase a new one...or can fish from the shore. Have done several mountain trips with friends and guides for trout with a 5wt rod. Could purchase a larger wt rod if they opens up some more opportunities.
We recently purchased our first rental property and received an incredible interest rate on it. Would the recommendation be to use the monthly profit and put toward the principal or invest the profit in the market? If we paid toward the principal we would probably pay off between 12-15 years depending on capital fixes we would have to make. Monthly rent in 2021 is $2000/month. Doubt there is a one size fits all answer to this question.
This may be a question for the money board, but was at a wedding this weekend and there was a group of people there all approaching 40 who expect to make partner at a Big 4 in the next few years. I asked and they just informed me...’alot’. How much we talking here?

ESPN FPI

Can someone explain this to me and why there is ANY validity to it? There projections have been shite for much of the year. They have a 2-3 Wisconsin team as #7 in the country, a 6-3 UT as #9, and an 7-1 A&M as #10.
