The lesson that Zuckerberg and most of America got from the questions Congress asked, Gutfeld said, was “we need term limits, we need term limits badly. Ninety-nine percent of those inquisitors didn’t know squat about what they were talking about. It was the best argument for small government that I’ve ever seen." Gutfeld, then, excepted Hatch: “I would have to say that I the only person there that impressed me was Orrin Hatch.” The others simply don’t get the simple, basic, and widely-understood business model Facebook employs, Gutfeld explained: “The bottom line: Facebook is free to use because it’s an advertising-based product. We have people on our sales staff for TV shows and for magazines – they have to go to media buyers and they have to present the demographic. We all understand this.”

I really think it was a low point for Congressional Oversight. Felt like one of those moments where everyone realizes that the Emperor has no clothes. How thing was embarrassing.
Quite frankly, I'd be absolutely shocked if they actually try to do anything similar to this again.

Since they don't read bills before passing them, I suspect they felt no need to familiarize themselves with the subject matter before asking stupid questions?

It's not just the Facebook hearing. Everytime Congress holds a hearing Committee it's just a bunch of grandstanding and idiotic questions.
The skill of getting elected <> the skill of creating meaningful regulations.

Yep. The entire baseball steroids fiasco comes to mind!

For some reason they thought that if they just made a serious face and kept repeating themselves with a harsh tone that we wouldn't realize they had no clue and were asking absolutely ridiculous questions
