They were allowed to opt out in 1968. Pretty sure any state now trying to opt out which many have voted on approved for it to change it would require congressional approval. Maybe that is the language in all the state laws but it would seem that at least one state would have been able successfully change since 1968 with it being so wildly unpopular

Yes, but if standard work hours remain the same, you lose out. You get home and it's dark, or almost. No way I can cut my grass after work during standard time. They change it and I;m going to adjust my quitting time to 3pm.

So 19 States are waiting on the Fed Gov to allow them to enact the legislation they have all passed. We'd adopt all year Daylight Savings time if allowed in LA.

quote:

In the last four years, 19 states have enacted legislation or passed resolutions to provide for year-round daylight saving time, if Congress were to allow such a change, and in some cases, if surrounding states enact the same legislation. Because federal law does not currently allow full-time DST, Congress would have to act before states could adopt changes. The 19 states are:

Alabama, Georgia, Minnesota, Mississippi and Montana (2021).
Idaho, Louisiana, Ohio (resolution), South Carolina, Utah and Wyoming (2020).
Arkansas, Delaware, Maine, Oregon, Tennessee and Washington (2019).
Florida (2018; California voters also authorized such a change that year, but legislative action is pending).

DST all day erry day

The main argument against it has been children waiting for the school bus in the dark

Airlines don’t want it because of all the flights between Europe and the US

Why would that matter when they’re already crossing 6 time zones?

Because corporations don’t like change I guess. It would be one more adjustment.
