The biggest issue I have with all of it is politicians have no fricking idea what they are doing and get lobbied by everyone and their mom to create carve-outs.
Which is a way, way bigger problem with consumption taxes. With an income tax, everybody is better off making more money. Every time. Not matter what exceptions or exclusions you implement. With a consumption tax you can directly target winners and losers

LASC or USSC? Did they rule against it or refuse to hear the case?
State Supreme Court. A couple people sued that the language on the ballot was convoluted and didn’t include all the details. The Court ruled against them saying that the measure doesn’t have to include every detail and that there is sufficient access to the full text online for voters to read.
Ultimately, it’s up to voters to familiarize themselves with what they are voting for so I understand the courts decision, but acting like lawmakers aren’t purposely unclear and deceptive with burying shite in big bills is cognitive dissonance

I'm generally against Constitutional amendments because we have too many constitutional protections as is. Because this one shifts items away from constitutional protection, though, I'm for it.

The position of "we want to take the protections for these taxes out of the constitution but won't touch it once it's a statute" is the biggest wolf in sheep's clothing I've ever seen

Ahh…I didn’t hear about that, but I’m in agreement with you on that.
If they won’t make the language more straightforward there should be a limit on the amount of things they can put in a bill.

Outside of lowering the income tax, Landry and the Republican legislative leadership are facing a massive budget shortfall next year when an automatic .45% reduction in the state sales tax is scheduled to take place. If lawmakers could more easily tax food, utilities and prescription drugs, they might be able to widen the sales tax base while still lowering the tax rate, and avoid massive budget cuts to higher education and health care services.
Expanding the tax base would decrease the taxes on the people currently paying the taxes.
If you want higher income tax to give to people who sit around and smoke weed and drink all day, vote democrat.

Everyone buys groceries and has electricity. This may be the dumbest thing you’ve said on this topic amongst dozens of idiotic statements. Like truly incomprehensibly dumb
