Since the repeal of “net neutrality” took effect on June 11, the U.S. internet speed has gone from 12th to 6th fastest in the world.
FCC chairman Ajit Pai announced late last year that he would be repealing the Obama-era internet regulations known as “net neutrality.” Following this announcement, the internet went into an absolute frenzy.
The internet speeds at my house have gone up from 60 Mbps to 200 Mbps with a free hardware upgrade and no additional fee from Charter Spectrum. WTF is going on? I can't handle the freedom.

This is likely due to the fact that the repeal of net neutrality rules have allowed the market to dictate itself. This, in turn, has spurred competition and innovation which ultimately creates a better product for consumers.
Oh, that makes sense. That what the free market people have argued all along.

The United States now trails only Singapore, Hong Kong, Iceland, Romania, and South Korea in overall broadband download speed.

Will we incur another genocide?

I had some idiot on Facebook screaming about the only way we'll have good internet and freedom is if we nationalize it
Also 5G will be 1000x faster than fiber. So curious to see what the major ISPs do to keep customers.

When is 5G going to be available?

cost us many lives but it was a good trade off to climb 6 spots

Which is why people's hysteria over the necessity of nn is so stupid

Companies just give us higher speeds so we get use to them and in a year will charge us more

Bait and switch. Give the people loads of free stuff they soon lean on and they slowly start charging for it.

But we were told that it will cost 10k a mnth for internet and we need to just wait and see

I just read an IBD article on 5G. ISPs with cable and fiber are about to be cheap as shite.
5G is going to possibly put ISPs dependent on cable and fiber out of business.

Seriously, this is a real time real life example of why capitalism is so great and socialist like policies like NN suck.

The funny thing about that meme is all the websites depicted on there are default start pages for most browsers and those default start pages are links to those other main stream sites. Do they gets clicks? Sure. But I bet they get clicks because most people don't change their start up pages and they follow links in the start up pages.
If those websites started charging for access NO ONE WOULD CLICK ON THEM.
And they would lose massive amounts of money on advertising which is TOTALLY contrary to their internet business model.
