Would you prefer a consumption tax to replace the 16th and the income tax?

To fund the federal government.

I would prefer no taxes however that is really not a practical option.

Can we curb spending first or does that make too much sense?

Yes I would support the Consumption Tax, essentially that is what we have in Florida with not State Income Tax, pay as you go, a winner to me

Yes, coupled with a balanced budget amendment.

The 2 issues are mutually exclusive. Don't conflate them. One is related to the collection of taxes and the other related to spending of taxes collected.

Exactly. That't the kind of thing our god damned Congress does and hence we never get anything accomplished.

Sort of like border security and "immigration reform " those are two separate issues. But , of course, the Dumbocrats argue that they are the same and so nothing gets done.

Correct; let's not do anything with taxes until we stop spending millions on the effects of monkey's fricking in 70 degree temps vs. 72 degrees.

Sure. And to not unduly burden low income folks, make certain food items and medical equipment expect from the tax.

You are either not comprehending or you are being intentionally aloof.

Fwiw, i find the tax on labor to be the most morally reprehensible law on the books.

There would have to be some reasonable exemptions or we would create more problems than we have now.

They definitely are not, in fact, it would be better to consider them together rather than apart.

We already have a pretty good "safety net" already, right?

Housing subsidies, free internet, transportation subsidies in the inner cities, cell phone subsidies, food stamps, healthcare subsidies, etc., etc.
