No, the US just needs to throw its weight around like Trump is already doing.
The US never needs to take no for an answer or ask for permission.
We actually do run this shite and should behave like it.

quote:3% of GDP for each nation. Up until Trump took office, how many countries in NATO where contributing that amount? ONE! Care to guess who that was? On top of that, we currently have 84000 troops at bases in Europe! We spend a shite ton of taxpayer dollars to protect other countries from a fricking non-threat! Russia can't take piss ant Ukraine in 3 years! If the European countries are scared Putin is coming for them, let them band together without us for their own protection. Instead, they put little towards their own defense, all the while standing behind us, and reaping the rewards of OUR tax dollars being spent in THEIR countries! For fricks sake, Great Britian only has about 75000 active duty troops. For comparisons sake, Alabama has 14000 in the Alabama National Guard. 5 million people in Alabama, 65 million in Great Britain!
Sigh.
How is it that people still do not know how "NATO funding" works?

Should have left NATO 25 years ago.
I don’t oppose staying a member of the UN. There’s really no point in leaving it. But we should stop being the bankroll for the UN though.

No. It is not. That is each countries own budget for their own military. That does not "fund" NATO.

Because we want them there. You think we wouldn't lease the same bases even if we weren't in NATO?

That is what the NATO defense spending is. Each country spends on its own military.
NATO does have common budgets for military infrastructure, joint bases, intelligence, administration, etc., and each country contributes to that proportionally to their GNP. The US and Germany are the highest, at 16% each. UK, France, Italy are right behind.

quote:Seriously, are you retarded? I have heard Trump beat the fricking drum for 10 years about how NATO members are not holding up their end of the deal for funding NATO. Multiple news sources. internet and MSM have reported the actual percentage that each nation has contributed, and it's shocking low! That's why Trump is using to bully pulpit to expose just how much WE are funding THEIR defense while they spend their money on social programs.

Nevermind answering the question. Your post confirmed that your thermostat is set to your IQ.

If European countries decide to start taking their national security seriously then the US can possibly help train some of our friends in Europe. The only countries doing that are France and England. We can’t take those countries seriously because their national defense spending is a joke.
