Will President Trump appoint a new Press Secretary?

I don't think he will...at least before the midterms.
Leavitt would be a hard act to follow. I think they will just do what they did in Leavitt's absence: trot out a cabinet secretary every so often to emphasize a particular policy.
Added bonus: if it's a topic outside of the secretary's responsibility that the WH doesn't want to discuss, that secretary will just say "I don't know, it's outside my area of expertise." Good marketing and PR.

I hope the MSM is belittled at every WH Press Room briefing. The rug needs to be pulled out from under all ot them who refuse to report the TRUTH!!

The President already does a good enough job of this on his own.

You're right and I see other politicians trying to use his successful tactic as well. POTUS Trump does not care and I wish all, those politicians who want the truth, learn not to care about the MSM either.

Who's been doing it in the interim?

One will be appointed before midterms. Also Trump will do a press conf if needed. He’s the most transparent President where he doesn’t mind going to the stage or talking to the press or nation.

James Woods for Press Secretary

I loved Karoline Leavitt, but one thing they should've done often is remind the propaganda puppets in that room that their corporate media overlords instructed them to submit their questions in advance for Brandon's infrequent press conferences. That allowed the staff to help the senile old crook practice his answers so that, provided he could remember the answers, he would know what to say and not embarrass himself too much.
That one action alone proved how biased and corrupt the corporate media is, but the usual suspects like 56lsu, sfplc, and beefense still act like there was nothing wrong with the WH Press Corp doing that.

Briefings during her leave:
May 5
Marco Rubio
Secretary of State
May 19
JD Vance
Vice President
May 28
Scott Bessent
Treasury Secretary
June 2
Mehmet Oz
CMS Administrator
June 18
JD Vance
Vice President
Then once she came back, on July 1, she only had two press briefings before leaving office on Friday. So, briefings went to just once a month.
It's like the Administration has been phasing out the traditional formal WH press briefing.

I could see that happening. Every Press Secretary under Trump has been a lightning rod of criticism, deserved or not. That is certainly part of the job, but to be honest I kind of like having various members of the Cabinet taking turns in the role. I feel like getting different points of view gives a more all encompassing view of the Administration.

it was comical watching him read the name off his cheat sheet to calll on a 'questioner" - then read 'his' answer off the same card.

Could be. Who would you want?
I like James Woods, but he would be too independent for Trump...plus he's a dude and not easy on the eyes.

I have not ever understood why every press conference with the media does not start off with a minimum 1 minute expose' of facts related to media bias. One could finish with I will focus on answering questions from media that does not have a proven bias.
