Why was the Jordan border drone attack successful?

Not a source that I can post, but I'm hearing the drone attack was actually a US drone left behind in Afghanistan. It was broadcasting as a friendly aircraft which is why it was able to get through defenses.
I'm not a military guy, but shouldn't the transponder IDs of equipment left behind been reclassed as non-friendly? If this gets confirmed, this is malfeasance of the highest order and should blow back on Sec Def and Biden.

Like they will ever admit how much they left behind over there, either in equipment or in civilian who got abandoned.

Anyone in the general public expecting to ever know the truth on how the attack occurred is a fool.

That explanation strays into some classified stuff. I wouldn't expect a lot of clarity there.
The speculation I heard was that the radar / detection systems were turned off. I'm not sure we'll get an answer to this question, from this administration - and if we do, I'm not sure we can trust that it's a truthful answer.

If true, that's impeachment level stuff.
Maybe someone with military experience can weigh in on how this stuff works. I'm sure the recon/spy drones can switch transponder off, but the implication here is that it was left on and the air defense network read it as a friendly aircraft because the codes hadn't been updated to account for abandoned weaponry in Afghanistan.

It was a small outpost. The real question is why are our troops in an outpost in Jordan.

IMO they didn’t have advanced systems out of this outpost. It was likely covered by a larger base somewhat near by. Idk because I haven’t had the time to research past that picture. Last I heard we don’t know exactly what drone was used but there were 4 possibilities, larger military type drones. It could have launched or dropped the blast. There also could have been more than one and it just got thru. We will never get the details unfortunately.

Would also be nice to know what other surrounding countries we have troops in and a rough estimate of how many and why.

That was the very early story or speculation. That would put the fault on the tech or the operator. This news would place the fault on the leadership.
