Why is the burden never placed on dems to “change” their party platform, unlike gop?

When a republican loses an election, the narrative is: “the gop needs to alter their platform to appeal to group X”
When a democrat loses an election, the narrative is “group x is hateful, ignorant, etc and it is harming the democrats”
I am not aware of a single time in modern history where media and pundits said “man, you know, dems keep on losing elections, maybe it’s time for a platform change”
Dems lost in landslides in 1972, 1980, 1984, and 1988....4/5 elections in that time period, and there was never a narrative from media and commentators that a “change” in philosophy was necessary. The losses were blamed on racist whites and ignorant rubes
Yet gop loses in 2012, 2008, etc and they are immediately called upon to become more leftwing to “appeal” to voters.

I think there has been a significant burden placed on the democrat party to become more progressive by both the media and from within the party apparatus

They’ve changed significantly since Obama took office. Shifted way left. And Bernie’s traction showed them that they could go further.

Have you seen Biden’s new ads? They’ve completely co-opted Trumps stands. I’d say that’s a change.
