"Anti-semitism is the socialism of fools" -- Sartre

"Socialism is the anti-semitism of intellectuals" -- Kafka (that is, me)

Can someone explain to me how socialism is perfect on paper? It has always looked like theft to me.

It's like putting together something from IKEA. All of the parts fit in the instructions, but when you try to put the bastard together nothing fits and you end up throwing the piece of shite on the burn pile.

I still see theft at the base. I don't see how we are still granting socialism the moral high ground.

Neither does socialism.

It works well for the poors. More people escape poverty under capitalism than socialism.

Of course we have a hybrid system that keeps the poor down for political reasons

They should both work together. It isnt black and white. Capitalism and socialism are a natural pair. We use them based on societal need. When the free market satisfies a need or is used for luxury and innovation, perfect. When the needs of a society arent met by free market, utilize social programs until they arent useful or the free market catches up.

Socialism proponents see the ideal in their mind but fail to realize that's the only place it has ever, or will ever, exist because power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Socialism is not a great idea that goes wrong, It is a shitty idea that goes exactly as it is designed to do every time.

Socialism is the idea that you owe me something simply because I exist and it is my right to force you to give it to me.

Capitalism, by contrast, is a system whereby if I don't give you a product or service you want, I will starve.
Voluntary exchange is more moral than forced redistribution.

The Socialist will tell you they want equal opportunity for all but the deeper you dig, it becomes obvious they want equal outcomes for all, and are willing to use the force of government to seize the property of one class to give to the other, while lining their own pockets in the process.

Probably because there hasn't been a real socialist/communist state in all of history.

Ask yourself..."Why not?"
Surely this isn't a new concept. So why has it never been done before? Not from a lack of trying.

Well if we asked people in Venezuela right now, they could give us about 4,280 reasons. That is about the current exchange rate

I am sure the people of North Korea might be able to chime in on this as well.

So doesnt that affect every ideology?

Historically, no. Socialism is the gateway to communism, which has repeatedly shown that it will not work when applied to large numbers of people.

If one wishes to practice communism, become a monk, join a monastery, and take a vow of poverty. Voila.

You're thinking of communism. Socialism is already a part of our country and many others. It isn't an economic model. Your roads, police, social sercurity..etc. All forms of socialist policy in a capitalist society

That really isn't an accurate assessment. Having social safety net programs in a capitalist society isn't "socialism." In the US, there are really no true socialist programs because for every government collectivist program there is a private counterpart.

You are economically illiterate.

Social welfare =/= socialism.

Reality is that socialism is the only way that society does work for man. Every successful society in the history of mankind had strong socialist elements to it...by definition:

"noun: socialism

a political and economic theory of social organization that advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole."

You see that by definition either the community can OWN the means of production, distribution and exchange OR regulate the same...society can't function without regulations, period. I understand that some of you are stuck in the 10th grade and chaff under the tyranny of the stop sign at the corner but without that regulation society can not function...

Regulation of an industry is not socialism, that is capitalism.

Public ownership of an industry is socialism.

Man at least give Ben Shapiro a citation if you're going to recite him word for word

This is correct though, socialism is bad idea in theory and an even worse idea in practice.

Really?. Under this broad of a definition we operate an entirely socialistic economy. Do you think this is the case?

Of course it isn't. There are socialistic elements, like our absurd level of taxation, but the economy as a whole is capitalist.

Monk in monastery.

I see ads asking catholics to support the monastery with inheritance and donations.

That's not communism.
