Communism has jumped the shark. There are only a few countries left that even call their economic system that and none them practice it as the Soviets did. It's been discredited.

People were ok with Nazis until two events in late 1938:

Annexation if Czechoslovakia
Before those, even Churchill remarked publicly, “if I had to choose between nazism and communism I would not choose communism”.
The Nazis might be around today if not for those two events.

Communism jumped the shark at the beginning when it killed millions of people.
