I've listened to rush for 20+ years.
He used to get a lot more calls than he does now.

I don't think so. But per my local radio station you can use Alexa to tune to a particular radio station that broadcasts him. So I can while on vacation in Wisconsin listen to Rush on the local station here in Texas. That is if I have Alexa.

Hey, the worst was Sean Hannity's radio show. Since talk radio listeners are demographically male and thus female advertising doesn't sell Hannity decided to have a female caller every day around 3:10. It didn't matter how stupid she was. All of the calls went like this:

Sean: Here's Sue in Topeka. Hi, Sue.
Sue: Hi, Sean. You're a great American.
Sean: You're a great American, too. What's on your mind Sue?
Sue: Well, Shawn, I've been listening to the news and, ya know, I just don't know, I mean everything is so ridiculous. Do you know what I mean?
Sean: I know exactly what you mean, Sue.

That's up to Rush. Perhaps he wants to talk more now and take less calls. It is his show to run as he sees fit. It still pays the same.

Oh, I got hooked by accident. I was channel surfing in '88

I've tried to call Rush's show several times to tell him how I got hooked.

We used to listen to Larry King at night, and along about the '88 timeframe someone called into his show and asked "what do you think about this new Rush Limbaugh guy on the radio?"

Larry replied = "I don't put much stock in haters." and that was it. BUT, I immediately got this imagine in my mind of a tall skinny unkempt ugly person who was scowling and swearing and spitting and shouting --> I wanted to hear what kind of "hate" he was peddling and to whom.

SO I began scrolling thru the dial anytime I thought about it trying to find this guy. But I was only searching when I got off work - had no idea there was 'talk radio' during the day.

Then in '91 I was on vacation, coming back thru Michigan looking for something to listen to - and I found someone talking sensibly about politics - saying EXACTLY the same things I had been thinking and believing all my life, so I kept listening - turned out it was Rush - been an ardent fan ever since. Only disagreements with him have been on really minor stuff - or technical commentary that I knew a lot more about than he did.

Never heard a hateful word - must have gotten it out of his system in those first two years.

True. People don't tune in to hear callers.

BTW, for those of you too young to remember Rush discussing the death of Mitch Snyder.

After it was exposed that he falsified all of his data on the number of homeless the Congress cut his funding off.
He committed suicide. I anxiously tuned into Rush the next day to see what he would say. I was afraid that 'don't speak ill of the dead' would prevail.

Rush said:

'Ladies and Gentlemen

Yesterday homeless advocate Mitch Snyder

Assumed room temperature.'

I cracked up.

This is the key, Bandit. The left says we've been brainwashed by Rush. He was just the first guy in media to express the opinions we already had. Keep in mind that this was late 80s early 90s so there was no Internet research.
When I heard BS from the media in the 80s I had to go to a library to find out if it was true. And it never was.

The Mitch Snyder hoax was blatant. He got 10M homeless by counting the number of homeless in Baltimore. Baltimore is a town. Therefore, he multiplied that number times the number of towns.
But the MSM would never investigate his methodology.

Did he run out of his boner pills and underage Dominican hookers? Or is he low on candy bars and cheeseburgers? Another right wing draft dodging hero

No. He explained to show loyalty to the many stations that took the risk to carry his show in the past, he has chosen not to sign a satellite radio contract.

Sadly, I do not think so. I think you can get on IHeart but not Sirius. I really want him on Sirius. Have not listened near as much anymore.

I remember that and also when someone would ask about Rush he would just say "who, I don't know who you are talking about". That was one liberal twerp, King was.
