Is it against the law for President Trump to say what he said? Yes or No? If yes, please cite the applicable law

What does this have to do with impeachment? Asking for a friend.

Abuse of Power (one of the articles of the Nixon impeachment) isn't actually a criminal offense.... That being said, it's clear that one party's floor is, what's the criminal statute? Not, is this behavior we want from a President.

Also, we'll see what more details come out but criminal violations can't be rule out right now. I'll wait for criminal experts to weigh in.

Seems like Trump quid pro quo’d the Ukraine president to investigate Biden in exchange for military aid which, if true, is really not cool, and worthy of a whistleblower.

I mean, you can do it, but It won’t go over well without a high crime or misdemeanor.

So, essentially, Democrats reach levels of trashiness previously thought unimaginable

If the president had a hit put out on Biden this board would be ok with it.

How would you react if Trump threatened to cut off military aid in exchange for firing the prosecutor that was investigating Don, Jr.?

Would you want that investigated?

Abuse of Power is a high crime or misdeameanor. It's amazing how ignorant of the process most Americans are.

quote:

The phrase high crimes and misdemeanors is found in the U.S. Constitution. It also appears in state laws and constitutions as a basis for disqualification from holding office. Originating in English Common Law, these words have acquired a broad meaning in U.S. law. They refer to criminal actions as well as any serious misuse or abuse of office, ranging from Tax Evasion to Obstruction of Justice. The ultimate authority for determining whether an offense constitutes a ground for impeachment rests with Congress.

This reminds me of the Uranium One conspiracy theory.

You don't have any evidence that Biden specifically tied aid to the investigation of his son. If you did, he would have already been prosecuted for corruption.
Biden admits it on video. Democrats are above the law, he is too big to jail. Somehow Trump isn't though... as ya'll waited with baited breath believing the news reports that just about the entire Trump family was going to be arrested and jailed.

Again, this keeps being stated as fact on this thread and no one has provided any kind of link or proof of said video.

What abuse of power are you claiming?

Promoting justice and transparency in exchange for aid?

So let me make sure I understand the dem talking points here. The president threatened to withhold aid from a country who openly interfered with the 2016 election and possibly engaged in corruption with a former VP.

And you have a problem with this? Didn't Obama do essentially the same thing with Russia in the lead up to the 2016 election?

Seriously, you are going to somehow manage to look like bigger authoritarian psycho hypocrites if you go down this rabbit hole. I sincerely hope you do.
