Doral man, identified as Jonathan Oddi, 42, was shot by police early Friday at Trump National Doral in northwest Miami-Dade after grabbing an American flag, going into the resort’s lobby, firing shots and causing a commotion, police said.

“This subject came in removed a flag from a flag pole at the rear of the complex and brought it into the hotel lobby and draped it over the counter and began to yell out anti-President Trump rhetoric,” Miami-Dade Police Director Juan Perez told reporters at a briefing shortly before 9 a.m.

The shooting at the resort owned by President Donald Trump — at Northwest 36th Street and 87th Avenue — happened about 1:30 a.m.

“These officers did not hesitate for one second to engage this individual who was actively shooting in the lobby of the hotel,” Perez said.

Oddi— balding and with a close-cropped beard — was seen sitting up on a gurney as rescue workers took him to Kendall Regional Medical Center.

He was shot in the lower part of his body but his condition was not immediately known.

Perez said the incident was not immediately being considered an act of terrorism — but that possibility is not being discounted.

Currently, Miami-Dade and Doral police are leading the investigation into the incident. The shooting of the man by police will be investigated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement as is standard procedure.

Additionally, the FBI — and likely other federal agencies — are at the scene.

During the incident — which officials say played out very quickly — an officer from the Doral Police Department was hurt, but not from gunfire. He was taken to a hospital, possibly with a broken wrist, officials said.

After news about the shooting spread Friday morning, President Donald Trump’s son, Eric Trump, tweeted out his thanks to the Doral and Miami-Dade police departments.

“Every day they keep our community saife. We are very grateful to you,” the posting said.
