Unless you are shaving some Supreme Court justices stepping down, house is far more important.

Short of another Scalia-like scenario, I don’t see Thomas or Alito stepping down any time soon. Maybe Roberts, but he is useless to anyone anyhow, so it wouldn’t change things.

So in the end, the House is more important right now.

Ok so after reading these posts it sounds about like what I expected. Both. Being obviously for different reasons, but no resounding reason for one of the other being more in control just depends on what a person feels is more important.

Right now, I would think control of the House of Representatives is more important. Biden and the Democrats cannot pass legislation out of the House in the new Congress to try to amend the law and reconfigure the Supreme Court by “packing” it. The Democrats will not be able to get any legislation out of the House increasing presidential power by delegation of more legislative authority to executive branch agencies. Also, impeachment proceedings begin in the House. However, there’s all manner of mischief to be afoot by the Democrats in the Senate, so we’ll have to see how hard they push. Maybe Walker wins in Georgia AND Joe Manchin switches parties on New Years Eve.

Senate, with zero objective debate to the contrary.

Two words: Advice. Consent.

Yes, the House nominally has the “power of the purse,” but that only means that spending bills must START there. They still must pass both chambers.

Packing the Supreme Court maybe?

Maybe something the house repubs can do is hold investigations over the Dems in the Senate and Prez EOs heads...to help keep them in check.

I'm pretty sure they'd need the House to agree to any bill that would expand SCOTUS.

Odd phraseology, but to the contrary, I think it depends on the circumstances at any given point in time. Objectively and in general terms, I agree with you about Senate control given it’s constitutional role in the nomination of cabinet members and federal judges and the amount of power that an individual Senator can wield. However, in terms of where we are today in this political milieu, it’s my opinion that it may be better to be in control of the House of Representatives for the reasons previously stated re: Supreme Court packing, impeachment procedure, and legislative surrender of authority to the executive branch. My $.02.
