Texas never will turn blue, at least not in the way I think you're defining it. Politics is local, people vote their pocket books, and the economy of Texas, the entire Gulf Coast, including that of Florida ,is not that of, either the East Coast ,or the West Coast.

People have seen small states like Colorado overrun with Californian's fleeing taxes, so they naturally extrapolate this to all states.

The State of Texas is another matter, it has its own very mature culture, cuisine, and massive population. The political/business needs of the escaped Californians will realign to that of their new Texas neighbors, so that 80% of California escapes will (in 5yrs or less) be effectively assimilated/deprogrammed.

Some of them will even break their soy diets, buy guns, then for sport/fun kill and eat animals!

I don’t want Texas to turn Democrat. But with the feds including Ronald Reagan and the Bushes allowing the Mexicans to pour across our border, and Abbott and Trump flooding our state with Asian Indians, it’s really too much to overcome.

I have been hearing about texas "turning blue" for like 15 years, but there isn't much evidence of it.

Whites will become a minority there in the near future and a good chunk of those will be transplants from more liberal states. The number of newly registered Dems is outpacing Republicans
quote:

Hillary only got 42% there in 2016, barely any better than obama in 2012.

Good God, you are as clueless here as you are in sports.
"Hillary Clinton in 2016 outperformed Barack Obama in 2012 by 6.7 percentage points in Texas,"

quote:

Hays County, just south of Austin and the fastest-growing county in the state from 2010 to 2015, went Trump’s way by 0.85 percentage points. In 2012, Mitt Romney beat Obama in Hays county by more than 10 percentage points.

Fort Bend County, the third fastest-growing county in the state just south of Houston, flipped from 2012 to 2016. Romney won nearly 53 percent of the vote while Trump captured just under 45 percent.

Near Fort Worth, Collin and Denton counties are among the fastest growing in the state and could be predictive of future results.

You need to look up how Latinas feel about abortion to quickly dispel that notion.

Yep it was Repugs as much as Dems who opened the floodgates while distracting us with meaningless patriotardism: turning us into a third world country demographically is 10000x the threat that a decaying Iraqi dictatorship or some cavemen in Afghanistan could ever be

I get it.
And I hear you.

I will say this: I know P.
He’s a hardcore conservative—one of the few Longhorns left to characterize themselves as such.
And certainly the strongest Bush conservative (along with Pierce in Houston).

And even if you don’t agree with him, he’s only one person.
He can’t change the Republic.

I’ve extended the invite to you before, and I’ll do so again now: You’re always welcome to hang with us in Fredericksburg.
We have Longhorns and Ags in our family.
Good times abound.

It's the white women in Texas that are trending blue from red.

You can thank Trump for that.

I bet you have trouble getting laid other than with your wife and her strap on.

Women, at their core, want two things. Someone that can provide for them and protect them. Femi-nazis aside. You sound like neither.

I'd say they're more conservative than whites on average, but not by much. Most of the Latinas I know have multiple kids out of wedlock. And very few are devout Catholics, they convert to evangelical churches in huge numbers

I appreciate the invitation, but I’ll have to reject your suggestion to hang my political hat on the Bushes. Frick those carpetbaggers.

Seems like a rather odd response to someone posting facts

We don’t hang our hats on anyone, apart from friends.
Politics aren’t something we discuss around the grill.
The invitation is always open.

It won't.

The GOP leadership are not a collection of idiots. THEY fully understand that losing Texas means permanent status as a minority/opposition party.

They will make adjustments to the platform to keep Texas Red.

Yes, the denizens of this forum and other Far Right -types will whine and bitch about how the GOP is no longer "conservative" ... but it WILL happen.

And you will continue to vote GOP for exactly the reason that I will hold my nose and vote Trump if Texas looks close ... it is better than the alternative.

called the 19th amendment which has been causing its damage since the 1920's and should be repealed.

Disagree, eventually it will happen if the people moving into Texas and the younger generations keep voting the way we've seen.

18-29 years olds vote mostly Democrat 67% in 2018 mid-term elections and 30-44 voted Democrat 58%.

Now this obviously is a small sample size and comes from PewResearch

Y’all are nuts.

And those of you who disparage women and politics ... I’d invite you to attend my church, sorority (Zeta Tau Alpha) , wine group, DAR, DRT, and other organizations.
Your men are FAR more pathetic.

You have little knowledge about what you opine.

I’m an officer in the Daughters of the American Revolution.
We respect conservative beliefs.
If any of you are ever interested in attending our meetings—I’ll do what I can to bring you into the fellowship.
We’re about God and country.

Though truth be told, my ties to Texas (not the US) become stronger by the day.
I’m ready to disassociate from my US ties.

I always say that I am an American simply because Texas happens to be in the US.

If that were to change, it would not bother me in the slightest. I might prefer it.

I believe I understand your reservations and think they stem from your perspective, a missing the forest for the trees issue. Think of the Enron scam. They economically raped California for years with natural gas 'shortages'. Their behavior was reprehensible, but is just the sort of economic skulduggery the Southern States like Texas have suffered at the hands of the east and west coasts economic interests for the past hundred years. I see the demographic tide turning, and it's not so much about 'blue' or 'red' as who controls the power and where it is centered. As I said, I think we have different perspectives.
