I think how he brought up his dead son twice to get people to feel sorry for him. Also he completely lied about whenever he brought up Trump.

He’s not trying to make a point. He’s basically a breathing version of Bernie and his behind the scenes staffers are doing their best to hold him up so people think he has some basic competence, which he does not.
