What Have White People Learned From All Their Black Lives Matter Reading?
Wednesday May 25 marks two years since the death of George Floyd. The 46-year old African American man was arrested and killed after police officer Derek Chauvin kept his knee on Floyd’s neck for eight minutes and 15 seconds. This came only months after the killings of Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery.
As well as prompting a new wave of Black Lives Matter protests, Floyd’s death reignited conversations about race all around the world. Arguably, the pandemic had a part to play in this, as lockdown forced white people to sit and watch what police brutality can do to Black people in real time. Millions of white people around the world started showing their support by “doing the work”
Part of doing this apparent work has been donating money to Black advocacy organisations and listening to Black people’s experiences, but a major part was white people educating themselves about race through their own reading.
--------
It’s hard being vulnerable, of course, especially on social media, but have people digested all their anti-racism reading lists or do some consider buying and reading the books job done? Below, we hear from five white people who were willing to share what they’ve read in the past two two years – and how it’s changed the way they see race and racism.

hopefully they've learned how to spot disingenuous behavior, propaganda and money laundering...but i doubt many learned anything from it.

Black people are just as corrupt as white people about spending charity money like it’s theirs, but either don’t realize or don’t care that they shouldn’t be flaunting it.

That the people that donate money are dumbfrickers

Black people love them some systemic racism as long as they end up on top.
Race riots are a cynical fundraising op for Dems.
Black lives don't matter to black people.
Karen has a lot of white guilt and for some reason we've all been co-opted into her self struggle sessions.

I actually think those crazy frickers don't care either, they just don't want to be called a racist and kicked out of the club.
They care about virtue points, not actual black people.

That white people can’t say anything because it’s offensive to a dark color person

It’s profitable to seize on a movement, shake businesses and individuals down for cash, then distribute it among yourself and close allys.
Just like a city government and foreign aid.

That some poor Black people figured out how White Democrats make tax free money to become rich.
Start a bogus tax exempt organization, send a few crumbs (signs and t-shirts), and pocket the rest to buy lavish houses and lifestyle.

Biggest thing anyone should have learned if they didn't realize it already. If it mattered they would have been in the streets in the Dem cities demanding all the daily black on black killings stop.

I learned, since 1890, its the most racist movement in our nations history.
