Would love for all of the Democrats on this board to list what they love about their Party Affiliation and the greatness they are doing for ALL of the American Residents.

I’ll respond with why I love the Republican Party after the Democrats explain to me why they love their Party

Fat purple hair folks, illegal immigrant support, and the destruction of America.
And abortion on demand, pre or post-birth.

It makes them feel that they're smarter and more compassionate than the rednecks?

I was the first in my family to register Republican back in 1979. I quit the party and went independent in 2012 because I was tired of the lies and finally realized there were few true conservatives in leadership roles. I have voted Democrat before (Roemer for example) but that party has gone so far left I can't ever imagine pulling the D lever again.

1950's and 1960's

Young folks today forget that from the War of Northern Aggression to Truman the south was solid Democrats. Before that the Democrats and the Republicans were the same party in opposition to the Federalists who wanted a landed gentry over a middle class.

I liked Ike, Goldwater, and Nixon and was OK with Bush Sr and Dole. Ronnie was a puppet. Bush Jr and Trump are Republicans in name only and could care less for the working class Republicans of my youth.

Not so much, and your answer is a bit off. The Democratic-Republicans does not mean the Democrats and Republicans were the same party. The Republican Party was an offshoot of Northern Whigs. The Federalists were not landed gentry over a middle class. During the 1st Party system their core was New Englanders.

The Republican Party (GOP) did not exist till the mid 1800's

The Democratic Party did not exist till a decade or so before the GOP

The Democratic - Republican Party preceded both in the 1700's and yes they were the same party at that time.

Phase I = Federalist vs Democratic Republicans
Phase II = Whig vs Democrats
Phaise III = Republicans vs Democrats (aka Lincoln vs Jackson)

Whigs were created when former Federalists combined with Republicans spun off from the Democratic Republican Party). As for the Federalists,,,

Wik quote

The Federalist Party grew from the national network of Washington's Secretary of the Treasury, Alexander Hamilton, who favored a strong united central government, close ties to Britain, a centralized banking system, and close links between the government and men of wealth.

Men of wealth sure sounds like the landed gentry to me.
