The fact that the same care and focus isn’t happening with global warming is very telling
That's because if we went to ZERO emissions right now, it would take 500 years to see the first change.

It's not disagreement with me that I'm interested in. It's disagreement with experts.
People disagree with me all the time and sometimes their arguments are compelling enough to make me reflect on what my stance really is.
Do I expect to run across anything of substantial scientific importance on this form? Hell no. And neither should you.

You've labeled it in advance and dismiss any and all contributions on the subject.

If you had no interest in actually engaging with people on why they held their views, you could have simply started the thread.........
"If you disagree with anything regarding climate change, I say you are a conspiracy nut and refuse to hear anything you say".
I mean, you could at least be honest instead of a post whore.

Ok, let’s talk about these experts.
What makes them “experts”? What are their credentials? What’s their methodology for reaching their conclusions? What are their motivations for reaching said conclusions?
97% is a number that’s being thrown around a bit. Out of how many? How is that number determined? Are they all equally qualified?

I would say for most people it's largely rooted in conspiracy.
Just like when the religious crazies conveniently only target theories that are in conflict with their religion many people will only take issue with science that is at odds with their political sensibilities.
Let me ask you the following: if there was not long held opposition to climate change by right wing political interests do you believe that you would see the same level of opposition from your average right wing voter?

They listen to what their favorite political pundits have to say on the matter obviously

At minimum 100 if you're familiar with math

Translation: I’ve just deconstructed your argument and you have no real answer, so you thought you’d attempt snark to save face.
You’re dismissed.

Well almost every country in the world thinks its a thing, all scientist in the world and not under republican payroll thinks its a thing, but my republicans leaders tell me its not so...

It takes just a very small amount of observation to realize this. But I'm the a-hole for pointing it out in this safe space

Of course the same question applies to the Democrats and liberals on the same subject as well as many others
But that is nothing to do with dismissing every individual you speak to you on the subject rather than engaging
That's where you trip up you do so because you have no other insight Beyond your conspiracy theory default
People ask questions. You don't respond you dismiss them
Which renders the entire point of starting a thread moot

There are literally people in this thread including yourself pointing out that it's a conspiracy. You may be woefully unaware that you did it, but you did.

So conservative disbelief of the scientific results is largely politically driven. This is obvious. Glad you finally admitted it.

Of course. Their views on the subject happen to be politically motivated as well. I'm not willing to give them credit as being more scientifically astute. In this case they just happen to be on the correct side (as far as not completely denying any human involvement, clearly some take it to ludicrously stupid levels and are wrong in that regard)

Well when you're out numbered about 30 to 1 it's not easy to provide detailed responses to every single person responding.

False. Recognizing the natural economic pressures is not a conspiracy. If you feel like redefining the word conspiracy to fit whatever the frick you say that's on you
quote:congratulations. You got me to admit that water is wet. We just described literally every political issue in existence. Any other earth-shattering observations you would like me to address?

Where you trip up is thinking that this means you don't have to discuss with individuals because you can simply apply the group to everything. By that definition the only reason you believe what you believe is because of politics
quote:there's like 39 pages to this thread and you haven't engaged to single point other than to dismiss it as a conspiracy or declare it false because you can count
Well when you're out numbered about 30 to 1 it's not easy to provide detailed responses to every single person responding
It's a complete silly pretense to act like you simply couldn't get to the questions or the points
You exposed what you are in this thread and now a lot of new people got to see it. It is what it is

I've been civil with some people. You just don't happen to be one of them
You're a dick. I'll continue to treat you like one so long as you keep up your unwarranted condescension.

You have dismissed 100% of the people in this thread has conspiracy theorist if they didn't agree with your line of reasoning. That's not civil unless you're retarded
