This, my in-laws are in their late 80s. They raised 5 conservative kids. They believe everything big media vomits out on a daily basis. They’ve had every vaccine and booster available. They went from middle of the road democrats to flaming liberals from their 60s to their 80s. I won’t talk politics with them. Other than letting them know my wife and I cancel out their vote every election.

The biggest age group voting for Trump and MAGA are people over 65. However, as noted, there are still old hippies, demprogs and other leftists clinging to their delusions.

How much of this is simply atonement for being on the wrong side of history on the 1960s?
You gotta wonder is some of these Memaws blocked the schoolhouse steps.

My uncle is 85. Was a green beret in the US Army and probably one of the most liberal people I know.
He always talks about FDR and how he saved the country. He claims people today can’t understand what the depression was like and how old people had no safety nets before social security. I’ve heard him say several times, back then you got old you no longer worked and everyone died poor. Today all the old people have all the wealth. It’s just not how it was 100 years ago.
He also comes from a time and place when people were all very poor. Back then the community kept everyone alive. There was a sense of pitching in and helping your fellow man. That’s all gone today.
Those experiences made him believe in the need for the group to come together and make everyone’s lives better. I believe that ideal, at its core, is what made him that way.
