The first day of class in US History (I think pre 1863, I was 25?) I walked up to the prof after class and asked what I needed to do in order to get an A. If he wanted me to extoll Marx and Lenin, I didn't give a shite, I needed an A. To his credit, he told me he'd consider any well reasoned and documented argument for the grade. But I had to ask.
My AP US history in high school ten years earlier was all in on the living Constitution bullshite, and that was in Department of Defense schools. It's never going away, it's been a progressive lever of control since John Dewey at least (1910s).
