An angle that hasn't been discussed is our national debt. See the reason we can print and borrow money is because our debt to GDP ratio stays relatively serviceable.

However add 2 more trillion in stimulus spending and keep things shutdown for months, we get 30% unemployment and a huge strain on govt spending with tax revenue cut by 1/3. Not to mention a severe recession losing 25-50% of our GDP.

Then all the sudden we can't service our debt anymore. Then we become Venezuela. It cannot happen. It isn't worth it. It's not worth shutting down if every person over 80 dies.

They are more than welcomed to take on that responsibility. They will have to answer questions and shoulder any blame

We can't afford it now. Once these 15 days are up, it should be business as usual.

No we can’t, there’s no way the return to normalcy can coincide with the coast being 100% clear. That’s just not the way life works.

The current system is no longer sustainable, seems the system is being collapsed on purpose.

Texas and Florida will decide this. Once one or both of them decide to start moving back to normal, all the other red states and most of the purple will come along

Blue states are screwed. They will in many cases have higher infection levels and will not have the nerve to flip the switch

I certainly cannot. I guess I can cash out my rapidly-becoming-worthless 401k but this well is gonna dry up pretty quick like.

I have thought that maybe this is it, the final reset. Chickens coming home to roost kinda thing where the global financial system crashes and we yank the bandaid off.

However what emerges from it scares me because it could just as easily go the route of Orwell’s 1984 as it could go to more freedom and capitalism

Quit being selfish, man. If you aren’t willing to go bankrupt, lose your job, lose your retirement savings, and ultimately live in a cardboard box for the fight against Wuhan virus, you are just being a completely selfish prick.

I can’t see this going on more than 3 weeks max. After that there will be complete societal breakdown, mass suicides, open warfare, rampaging gangs. We are not the same nation we were in WW2 .Then ,about 50% of our citizens were farmers used to working hard to get by,they knew sacrifice, they hadn’t really recovered from the depression when the war started.
