You're the one that needs to go away. You're racist. And it's disgusting.

And I RA'd you. In an admins thread.

This has not a damn thing to do with Muslims and Jews. Get that shite out of here.

It's about a time in our country that, as someone who wasn't taught or believes in racism (regardless of what I've been called regarding my stance on illegal immigration), is absolutely ashamed of.

Take your Muslim and Jew crap back to the other thread. And I hope L.A. Bans you for bringing this here.

What the hell does this have to do with Israel and Muslims?

Okay. I guess I had that coming, but I'll bet you agree with me about MLK and Mandela.

I'm sorry you did that. That really hurt my feelings.

That is not relevant to this thread.

And RA'd again. There should be a "for being racist and derailing a thread" option.

You're fricking with the wrong admin.

Why doesn't it surprise me that that you would hijack an uplifting thread and turn it into the same old Republican vs Democrat vitriol? And why didn't you provide a link to your propaganda?
Got Google? LBJ didn't do anything that wasn't calculated for political gain. Copy and paste his whole quote into Google. Pretty easy.

I'll definitely read it. "Deliberate Indifference" by Howard Swindle is a rare but good read as well because it's set in Northeast Texas.

You don't have the moral authority to play the race card based on your posts that I've read.

I thought your post was thought provoking, if a little irrelevant with the jew/muslim thing.

mlk and malcolmx definitely have a stark contrast and it coincides with your theory.

ps. I'm not sure where you said anything racist but maybe I'm just so racist that it's normal to me

It was a remarkable time of courage, conscience, and strife in US history. Anyone who lived through those times should chime in. Please add some perspective to the "sky is falling" sentiment of the blogosphere. We Americans have come a long way against fairly tall odds.

Link please. Why don't you folks ever provide links? Is it because you're ashamed of the site?

I took it that he was demonstrating that we, blacks and whites, can (and have to a great degree) listened to our 'better angels' and NOT simply followed a "kill or be killed" approach to our complaints.

I think he only mentioned those groups as a contrast. I would not particularly use that tactic in this thread, But, I found nothing particularly objectionable in what Trackfan was trying to say.

We are better when we allow a little bit of "discomfort" to simply wash off our backs. I ENJOY reading posts that have a bit of "ooooh...that kinda makes me think / be uncomfortable". One must be careful not to go too far and become Rex.

And, I recognize that you two are entitled to your own lines. So, my perspective is not "correct" and yours "wrong". I simply post this as something to consider

I'll look it up.

I was born in '79. I wasn't old enough to remember the hatred. Either that or I was never taught it. I'm very thankful for that.

My best friend in high school was a black guy. We were really best friends. My parents loved him. When I got in a wreck and almost died in 97 after we graduated, he and his wife would come stay at the hospital with me so my parents could go home and shower. We still keep in contact. I send his kids birthday gifts every year. He has an amazing wife and an amazing family. I just can't imagine living during these times.

I always find the "the country has never been more divided" quip you often see tossed about in current political discussions, a good tell as to being able to write that speaker off as someone who has no historical perspective whatsoever.

I remember the church bombing in Birmingham.

Understood.

I just think that this isn't the thread for it. There are plenty of other threads to post that in. It just seems that he spews hatred in every thread.

I am reading this book, and honestly, I am embarrassed. I have stated my upbringing before. And I lived in MS for school in 2007. These trials weren't very long ago and it took 40 years to get it on trial. And, from what I saw, there is still a lot of hatred there. I was never taught that.

If more people had followed MLK's advice, the world would be a better place. Dr. King was an inspiration and we could use a lot more people like him these days.

Sorry, but the more I read this, the more I get pissed off. I can see now....this will start me on a binge reading kick of civil rights books. I would probably be a statistic if I lived during those times. If you can't tell, I'm willing to fight for what I believe in.

I know I wasn't being intentionally provocative, and I'm glad you agree. I think Vols and GRITS are just overreacting as a defense mechanism to mask their own bigotry and hatred.

And I'm more than willing to call a spade, a spade (not racist at all )

I will bash my own race as quickly as I'll bash other races, as you can see. I don't judge by skin color. I judge by ignorance. Blind racism is ignorant.

Now I will admit, I have grown a bit intolerant of radical Muslims over the years....but that doesn't belong in this thread.
