We deserve equal opportunity to pursue our ambitions but do not deserve equal outcomes

Why would a rich guy live in the same neighborhood as the poors?

Probably because not all rich guys are pretentious materialistic yuppies.

The same can be said for the number of Nobel prizes won by ashkenazi Jews. It truly makes no sense. However I’m in the camp that the explanation is a mixture of culture and circumstances rather than any differences with ashkenazi genetics.

Liberal Democrats/Socialists aren’t preaching equality. They are calling for equity. There is a big difference. Equal opportunity for all isn’t enough for them. They want everyone to end up in the same place, regardless of where they started from or how hard they worked to get there.

I coached high school basketball for years. I had to step aside because I could no longer deal with this "everybody gets a prize" culture.

We are simply all equal in the eyes of God. No more, no less.
Each of us is “hard-wired” with talent combinations that are unique to us.
It is up to us to discover these.

Actually we should educate people on what "equality" actually means => moral equality before God or Law.

The use of 'equality' to mean = everyone gets the same job - or same degree - or same certificate - or same celebrity - or same assets - or same history - or same benefit from others' work/assets is stupid on its face and a poison pill for any technological, financial, artistic, competitive activity. They are now actually saying "equity" rather than "equality" to make it more certain what they are talking about.

Nobody yearns for, or even reveres, "equality" when everyone is writhing in the same squalor or poverty or confinement. It only arises out of jealousy AFTER someone who is more skilled than others coming forth and making things happen to improve the conditions of EVERYONE.

Whoever came up with "Equal Opportunity" sure was an optimist. Probably related to the guy that added the line "and the pursuit of happiness" to the Declaration of Independence.

Leave to the Dems to require a government aided outcome.

When are folks going to realize that the people who birthed you, have a lot to do with how "equal" you are to the next guy? Unless you want the government snatching up all the babies the moment they are born, so they can provide "equality", they better stop complaining.

Just because someone is rich doesn't make them a good parent, and just because someone is poor, doesn't make them a bad parent either. Ethics and morals will never be equal, therefore we can offer nothing except equal opportunity starting at 5 when kids enter school. What one does with said opportunity, is up to them.

Here is the crux of the whole societal unity meltdown. There are but TWO essential, moral scenarios that are applicable and determine the 'Justice' of the above statement.

Secular Humanist believe that the OP is a winner in "life's lottery"; I.e., that it was by the luck of Nature's 'Randomness' that the OP is able to "want more" and "go and get it". As the OP points out, all people are not "equal" in their (randomly acquired/therein 'unjust') Natural ability. And that it is the moral duty for a societies' leaders, to address said injustice for the sake of societal unity and prosperity. Progressivism/Authoritarian Socialism in a nutshell.

Second possible scenario: That it was not Nature's Randomness that landed an individual into the Genetic and Cultural scenario which determined their ability and prosperity...but that it was God's Will. I.e., that God in effect, "numbers the hairs on your head". If one accepts this Idea, the one must address the argument for WHY God would condemn some people to (Genetic and Cultural) hell, and reward others with 'Heaven'.

The above two scenarios are examples of (Thomas Sowell's) "First Principle" label. Depending on which First Principle one CHOOSES to believe...all ideas spring from the well of that choice. Hence, one person's 'inequality', is another's 'justice'.

"War in Heaven and on Earth"; Heaven being the philosophical realm of Ideological (chosen) superiority...and Earth...well, pretty obvious for the results of the argument/war here.

The above First Principles can NOT be reconciled. It is One or the Other; with all things thereafter flowing from that choice. It is merely the act of said choice for Individuals to make. And that choice will then determine said Individual's next life. (Parallel Universe Theory and 'Karma' therein applies; of course nws the Jesus wild card).

Fascinating. With ALL the chips on the table. Hope that there is a loving God; and that His Son walked in our shoes, and intercedes for Humanity. Otherwise, we are just an illusion like a movie...and when the light goes off there is nothing but soundless, thoughtless darkness.

Thank you Jesus.
